<div class="IPBDescription">Not a complaint, just a question.</div> Now there's been a bit of talk about fades and onos, and balance and whatnot, but this isn't a complaint about them, or how they're inbalanced and all that.
I want to know what people think that fades are <i>supposed</i> to be. Not what they were, what they are, and how the current build makes them powerful/weak/the game-decider (in either direction).

Personally, I believe that fades are slealth units, not meant to take out base/outposts. They excell against lone marines, and if they're devious enough, they could take on a group, by moving quietly (and possibly unseen) to take out the laggers in the back of the group. I don't believe fades should be able to take a group head on.
This leads me to think that fades should already have a cloak ability (I've advocated this before) to hold up to its true name [they fade away!] but I don't want to get into that. Talking about cloak/blink stuff usually leads to technical discussion, and I rather want to hear opinions of fades rather than the technical side of fades.
What are your opinions? I'm more or less curious what people think the ideal fade should be, regardless of balance issues.

LOW HP, high AP creatures (50HP/200AP) with a POWERFUL, SLOW attack (swipe should be a 6 point swipe... like you do with a Rapier but in this case the 2 claws make 3 swipes each, over the course of 1/2 second for the entire attack but dealing 400 dmg, with a once every 3 seconds rate of fire)
Makes sense to me... weak if you see it coming, OMG WTH HAPPENED if you ain't guarding your ****

The overal game ballance works that way that fast movement (mc) equals offensive strategies, that btw beat the expansive electrifiing.
Onoses are meant to be expansive units, expansive for aliens means that it beats defensive turret farms.
Lerks are defensive units, they beat offensive shotrun rushes and keep attacking groups busy.
I replaced the current Fade model with Jesus and changed the blink sound to hallelujah, seems somewhat more fitting than the original ones, given the current situation with fades. :/

For the OP: um, according to the original manual they're the high-speed bone-crunching foot soldiers of the kharaa.

It's really easy to hear a fade from a distance and hide behind a box or in a dark corner and let the fade pass

If anything it should just be re-named to something more fitting.

I actually agree with forlorn for once....maybe twice, fades should be faster, but this is a hit and run shock trooper...noisey and fast...not ninja like....
Your ninja's are your Skulks, those are the ones that leap from walls, hide cloaked waiting for the group to come by and chew on there heads....

So you're saying a fade that can take 2 shotgun blasts but can take out a HA in one attack is something you want to have flying around the map? Imagine what will happen if you get focus. You dont even need to get both swipes in. You can swipe and hit one marine with each of the 3 swipes in under 1 second and you will have 3 dead marines. Then you walk into base and just sit on the IP killing marines because they can even respond.
