Trying to make a fire effect w/ lighting
I have an inaccessable coridor in which I'm trying to make it look like there is a fire somewhere further down the coridor that you can't see. I have been playing around with some light entitys setting them to different flicker values and giving them different intensities of reds and oranges but it's just not having the desired effect. I was wondering if anyone had tried to do some fire effects before and if anyone would have any suggestions on things to try.

Particle system would be your best bet.

You won't be able to see the fire. I just want to have the light that is coming off the fire visible but I'm having trouble getting it to look good.

Take a look at this, it can help you.

Note that the lights do need a name in order to work, so it will count towards the entity limit.

In c1a1f, the tunnel you entered the game from has a burning effect. The entities used were a light, with brightness "251 49 13 430" and style 1 (Flicker A), and an ambient_generic with WAV "Ambience/burning1.wav".

Lights with a special light style are actually not allowed to have a name. Using the custom appearance method instead of the light style method does allow for use of a name, but it's not necessery.
