I'm not entirely sure what you mean by dumb... It simply makes it so you can see more of the map as comm, and don't have your view blocked at all <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->

its just not that necessary really... i mean the big sprites that are your buttons take up most of the room anyway so taking away the hud's bg is just pointless i think.

I'm gonna use this, I like the concept myself. I'll give it a quick run and report my findings. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Now just make the buttons semitransparent, and the minimap semitransparent, and we will be all set <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

hmm, can you click trough the transparent space where the background image was, to select a marine for example?

Last time I checked (not 100% certain on this), the only places where you aren't able to select a marine/building are where the minimap is, where the build menu is, and the stuff at the top.

Might check again later to make sure though.
