This doesn't seem to be working for me, and I am no nub when it comes to scripts and alias and command lines. It just changes right back to 0.1 no matter what I do. I made the interp.cfg and everything and added the command line, and it still doesn't set it right. Any suggestions?

Uh like someone said locking it to 0 would be bad, since steam would have to reset it every time you move. It would be like:
Move -> ex_interp 0 -> Steam sets it to the right value
I think the lock should be removed and we should let Steam handle it. The value for ex_interp isn't saved, so it's reset to 0.1 every time you quit. You need to put "ex_interp value" on your userconfig.cfg file or else it won't work. However, it doesn't currently work on NS due to the lock.
i did not read the whole thread so sorry if this was already said.
to unlock the intrupt open config change the lvl and add "alias ex_interp" to the config. this will prevent steam/ns from over wrighting the change. personaly i like setting it to 0, then it disides what settings are best
side note changeing the interupt is nolonger exploteable (you cannt have absured numbers set)

Look between the 2 numbers, and you'll notice (if a slow PC) numbers quickly changing, with the letters ms next to it, thus being your milliseconds of lag
he told me to lower my updaterate until those numbers are gone, which i did

Did you launch your own server and manage to eliminate any display of latency? Thats great. But in an online game its physically impossible to not have latency, unless you're running the server.
Setting your updaterate to 15 sounds pretty much like someone pulling your leg, to be honest. Thats extremely low, and while it would result in ridicoulusly easy visual models to shoot at, they'd also be heavily incorrect (because again, most of them are just predicted frames, not representing the actual movement - and prediction is built to smooth things out, so its always superbly easy to track). I didn't think I'd have to clarify that, but I guess I was wrong.
For those of you who cannot get your interp set correctly follow these simple steps.
Start NS Before joining a server type "ex_interp 0 ; alias ex_inerp" into the console WITHOUT the quotes. You'll notice it will boost it up to another number.

Some people do not know as much as some of us do about the engine or netcode. Therefore if the unknowing people are having problems with teleporting players they will be a fish out of water.
BTW, you cant visually tell the difference between: 0 and .04, .04 just gives you that bit of a safety net.

edit..
dont get me wrong i can speak it and read it very well, i just have problems wrighting it
not that i want to use it, my aim is quite good enough with the locked terp (or whateva it is set to by NS) but i tested it out last night, i tried all different sorts of updaterates/cmdrate and interps but each one all the players were VERY jerky.
is this happening to everyone else? change the interp and players go jerky.
Long time reader not much of a poster but anyway im having the exact same problems as eVo.x. I have been at this for the past 3 hours... read every post on the forum but everything I do if I type ex_interp ingame it ALWAYS comes up with ex_interp 0.1 Yes I have tried the shortcut with the values and userconfig and also just typing ex_interp 0 ; alias ex_interp into my console before I joined a server WITHOUT THE QUOTES dang anyone out there PLEASE HELP MY MASS confusion! Thanks

There's just one hitch not to be forgotten. As stated in the document linked in the first post, most servers (including NS ones) have a sv_maxupdaterate value of 30. That means that even tho YOU as a client have your updaterate set to 80, it's actually 30, as that is the cap.
So gopher for example, actually have cl_updaterate 30, ex_interp 0.05 and ex_extrapmax 2 on most servers, which seems to be working fine, but if he joins a server where sv_maxupdaterate is higher than 30, things might go poo.
Damn I'll try, many of my bites don't register! That could be my solution.
