What To Do?

When people start following you in game.
So I logged on to a random server earlier today. I get there, and join the aliens team on ns_origin. It's going okay, 7 vs 7. Unfortunately for me, one of the alien players is obviously a newbie (no problem with that, I don't mind them myself). The problem is that he kept following me and asking me questions. I couldn't kill one marine because he kept revealing me. I asked him to stop following me in voice and in text, but he kept going. Finally, I told him to go build Biodome, and he kept asking how to get there. Basically, he was clinging to me.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do in this situation?

had a similar experiance today: i silently walked as a skulk, listening to any marines, when i noticed a biiig yellow ball heading my way. so i conveniently set up a camp. then this new player comes, hears the marines and starts biting the nearby wall like mad, as some kind of "let's make them **** their pants" idea from whatever. GG.
Shoulda answered the questions.. If he was pestering, ask him to refer to the forums or manual...
lol
Well, that would work, except this is not the first time it's happened. I was just looking for some advice on what to do, since I can't just the guy.
And yes, that bhop suggestion might work, except the ones who follow me always manage to block my path somehow.
TEACHING HIM HOW TO PLAY NS
This community whines ceaselessly about not having enough good players, people who don't know how to play the game, and people who don't teamplay.
If he was asking question he obviously wanted to learn. And all you thought about is how much he was in your way. And I can't even believe all these stupid suggestions people are giving you... a community that treats new player like some sort of cancer we have to run away from.
What is gonna bring NS down is not going to be hitboxes, rambos, newbs, or even n00bs. The ultimate downfall of NS is going to be selfish community.
Real class act guys, way to show Flay you care.
Which is why bhop should be removed. GG "balance reasons"
Execpt that then he'd start spamming questions on how to bhop
Well if he was being ignorant of your attempts to teach him then you did everything you can.
I would say go to another server then. I've encountered people who just didn't want to learn no matter how patient you are, there is nothing you can do for them.
If they refuse to learn and is instead wreaking your fun to boot, well I would say they are not so much a newbie as they are a n00b and it would be a reportable offense.
*Shrugs*
True noobs can't really keep up, and if he does then he's more likely a griefer, and thats usually patient.
However, I urge anyone near the top of the scoreboard to be lenient to new players - they will follow you because of your success, looking to learn your moves. They want to be as good as you. Look at it that way, rather than the negative.
If they do get annoying, and ignore requests, then simply ditch them by going lerk/skulk/fade and leaving him in the dust.
anyways...if you dont want to help them
-ask them to leave you alone
-get someone else to help him
-change your name
-suicide
-pull off some tricky moves (bh, leap away, +use move chamber)
-leave
-trick them into stupid things (baiting, running into ms, jumping into lava, bilebomb and parasite are the best weapons...etc)
Basically teaching is hard to do, and unless you're willing to devote and sacrifice towards the effort, you are doing the effort a disservice. (*WARNING* - Several cliches to ensue). It is true when they say, "It is hard being at the top" and "With great power comes greater responsibility". Even those who wholeheartedly agree will often times underestimate the degree to which they are true... especially if you would like to be viewed in a favorable light. Being one of the best and hated is easy... simply abuse everyone along the way. But being one of the best and being revered means a great amount of sacrifice. Many people only want somewhere in between there, but that still means some sacrifice is called for.
In this particular case, the best thing you could have done was to disregard how well you were doing... or even how well your team was doing and vigilantly assist the new guy. I don't wrong you for doing otherwise... I often find myself agitated by the gogle-eyed wanderlings. In the future you may want to try this out, though. You will most likely lose the game you are playing... or even the next few games, but you'll find that you will have eventually found an eager (though rudimentary) ally in battle... not to mention the pride that you'll end up feeling if you do a good enough job.
"willing to learn"
Anyhoo, give people some time and patience. If all else fails just say "i'm sorry but I really cant teach you right now" or something, and hopefully someone else will step up to the plate... and if that fails go gorge or something, I doubt they'll want to hang out with a fatty.
But what you always got to remember is that you were once in that position too and a lot of people are generally just cruel to anyone who's not familiar with the gameplay at first.
Manuals are all well and good, but first-hand play, experience and a helpful team is what teaches people.
And I know of people who've tried this game and said they gave up when veterans kept insulting them on their first day... so the attitude against newbies turned them off ever wanting to learn... which is something that should never happen, since more players only helps the game to grow.
I recently had this on one of my servers a while back. Somebody was on who had only played the game once, and that was a year ago at least. They had no idea what to do, and some people were starting to get annoyed with him. I answered a couple of his questions, and he soon became my loyal thrall. The main thing was just trying to find a job for him to do that he was good at. Since this was aliens, that wasn't easy. X_X He knew how to evolve to different lifeforms, but he knew nothing about which upgrades to take, or what to do with them, or where and when to build things as a gorge. I had him go Onos, and I gave him Lerk coverage to a hit on double from Biodome, and later on I told him to camp out in front of Vent to work containment. When he lost it later, I told him to try a Fade, and he did pretty well, IIRC. This is the main thing you need to do when dealing with noobs. Don't just tell them how to play the game; tell them what to do. There's so much more to this than buttons. They don't know the map, and even if they do have a hazy idea of it, they don't know what's going on, so they don't know where they'll be useful. They don't know what attacks they should be using in certain situations. If you've got a newbie on your server, make sure to spec him whenever you're dead, so you can see what he's trying to do, and correct his errors. Maybe he's holding down a button that needs to be tapped, or holding his duck key and wondering why he keeps falling off things as a skulk. Once you can help with these basic things, they'll generally start learning strategy and teamplay much better.
PS: One other thing. If it's the beginning of the game on aliens, tell your newbie to gorge, and have him watch the minimap constantly while you lead him around as a skulk to put up nodes or chambers or whatever. Gorging is the best way for a fresh player to learn strategy in ways that don't waste the team's res, as long as they're properly vigilant.

Yeh let's remove something that requires skill!
Heck, let's give everyone an aimbot too, so nobody has an unfair advantage !
Yes, please. Id rather see more attention paid to teamwork rather than personal skill development.
