<div class="IPBDescription">any info?</div> I have just obtained a free copy of Cubase SX through my dad's work, he gets these type of things all the time

Anyways, does anyone here know much about cubase? If so, would you kindly guide this nsguide in the right direction of getting started?

I am a decent drummer, and extremely interested in creating my own music, electronica, downtempo and such (think "Boards of Canada" those who know)

I am wondering 2 things.

1) Is Cubase good for downtempo electronica? synthy rolling type stuff? If not, can it do fast crazy beats and all that? If neither, could you lead me to a high quality program (I am made of money) that can?

2) If to the above, would you be able to help me get started? (Link to a tutorial would be just fine) <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Thanks for your help!

    Considering his user group is NSGuides, i don't think it's too easy to hide.

    And yes, Cubase is excellent for most types of music, electronic music especially so. But i wouldn't really recommend it unless you need it. Cubase is a big and powerful program and offers excellent MIDI control and VST instruments, but i can be confusing as hell to people new to it, hell, it still confuses the hell out of me and i've used it for a while.

    Anyway, <a href='http://cubase.com/faq/content_by_cat.asp?cattypeid=11' target='_blank'>the FAQs on Cubase.com</a> help. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I used it at school.
    i cold do all the basic stuff, but i never really got a chance to experiment.
    What kind of inputs can you use? i remember using a keyboard plugged in to the computer.

    [EDIT:] i remember the first thing i did was try doing stuff on the drums <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> i've been playing drums for 2 years now.
