Green Text Issue

I've had the same "Green text" problem in OpenGL as many others, but only since beta 4. I DO have a dual monitor output, but once again, it wasn't a problem in the previous versions. I've even tried disabling the secondary output in the hardware manager. No luck. Does anyone have any idea as to why this started happening in beta 4? I made no hardware or software(drivers) changes prior to, or after the installation of NSb4. I've tried updating video display drivers - also no help. So, am I stuck or what?

    what type of card?

    use default driver settings, do not use third-party software to overclock or alter driver settings.

    Yeah i got that a while back now. It happened all of a sudden when i joined a server on the map tanith, all the text went green, and the VET icons red e.t.c.. but the major drawback was inside the comm chair, all the sprites where black.
    I fiddled about with the files that are linked with tanith, but nothing worked.. i couldn't be bothered to reinstall, so i lived with it for a week, then suddenly it all went back to normal.
    Strange that.

    I get the same issues. Both green text and blackened commander hud. Tried every config (even disabled dual monitors too). No luck.
    I've experienced the same problem using windows xp (I use 2k3 enterprise now).

    My machine:
    Athlon XP 1.7+
    512 ram ddr 266
    GeForce 4 MX 4000, 128mb

    If you guys have ANY news on this issue, let everybody know please :}

    It's caused when graphics are "locked" by another program. NetMeeting is a prime example; run netmeeting, (conf.exe) then try to join an NS game. Woa. Green.

    App sharing, RA, Desktop sharing, etc, all will have the same effect. I imagine running Diablo (etc) in the background (on another monitor, perhaps,) would have a similar effect. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Also known as:
    "Your display does not support downloadable gamma"
    Black sprites on the HUD
    Green scoreboard text

    Causes:
    1. The Half-Life Gamma Ramp isn't compatible with your display drivers.

    Fixes:
    1. The Half-Life Gamma Ramp isn't compatible with your display drivers.
    This problem is caused by the Gamma Ramp method being incompatible with the 64-bit display drivers. They handle gamma in a way which wasn't around when Half-Life was made, way back when. What you will need to do is twofold.
    First of all, open up the command console (default key: ` or ~), and type the following:

    <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->cl_gammaramp 0<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

    That will disable the gamma ramp, leaving you to set it yourself. Obviously, this will lower the gamma dramatically. Then, what you need to do is to find the display options (under Options -> Video), and adjust the gamma upwards (Gamma slider is at the bottom right of the video options page). Then click Ok, which will then restart NS. Connect to your usual servers, and play away, with the proper display methods being used smile-fix.gif<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
