<div class="IPBDescription">..and why I want it so badly..</div> OK, I heard of this game from Penny arcading, thinking it would be a simple clone of ut2k4....
I was wrong. So wrong.
Imagine all the cool dodges, jumps and such from the matrix movies...
Then imagine them infinitely cooler, wihtout any restrictions...
Then add the usual set of weapons from Unreal tournament...
But wait.. it's not over yet...
Add melee weapons.. in the same game.. and have it actually work. We aren't talking chainsaws, impact hammers or shield guns, we are talking melee weapons like swords; bladed staffs...
Imagine all this together in a single game... moving together in perfect harmony.
That's what Unreal Championship looks like it's going to be like ...
Just check this out: <a href='http://www.liandriconflict.com/media.html#' target='_blank'>http://www.liandriconflict.com/media.html#</a>
Also have a look for the uc2_preview vid..
And now, the part which may have several people tearing their hair (or fur <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->) out....
Yes, it's for the xbox.
However, that does not stop the fact this is going to be one damn cool game.

thats a total pewp on my scewp :/
During E3, I saw many a show saying "August 2004" "Fall 2004" "Late 2004".
But just you watch- as soon as it comes out, someone is gonna make a mod of it for the PC version, and all will go "Hallelujiah!"
I bet the conteoll scheme will be similar.

I pray to God, that Quaunaut is right about this becoming a mod.
If they don't...I say we force FAM to make a mod for it...we can grab "peepz" from the modelling dept. and call it "Unreal Championship 2: Blatant Ripoff"
mouse+keyboard > all
I really doubt they will be giving permisson for anyone to build it either, if they did intent for it to release on PC they would probably want to profit from it themselfs.
Ya, I was thinking that too. The only way I see them making profit off this game (dispite the fact that it DOES look awesome) is from the hardcore Xbox fanboys and the far and few between people who must have the game in it's original unparodied state.

Er... you are aware that the majority of the population that plays video games does not do so on a PC, but rather consoles? The entire reason Unreal Championship exists is to provide an Unreal-esque game for the console market, where games actually make money.

Ya, but the X-box ex eliminates more than 2 thirds of that market, and the fact that almost anyone with a computer can get a better version of an Unreal game cuts into that market fairly deeply as well.
I dunno, I personally am baffled with how well soccer games sell internationally, so I could easily be wrong.
Thats fairly debatable....
How much more effort does it take to release a game on PC as well as on a console? Relatively little I would imagine. I am not exactly tuned in to the monies the companies make from selling a game, but surely the money MS are paying them to make it X-Box exclusive (if they are paying them anything) is not as much as they would get from selling the game on the other platforms like PS2 and PC.
Probably a lot more than on a console however this is already on the Unreal engine so that isn't so much of a problem (Most of the costly compatability problems are gone for one)
Thing is its like Starcraft Ghost, they decided they wanted to put it on a console so they have. Plus they need to put something in that will make the console masses want to buy it. I think a straightforward port of UT2004 probably wouldn't sell that way.
Somehow I'm beginning to think that the PC may have to bow down to the console as far as games go in the near future.....
Actually, a lot. Thing is, the programming code is made up of the Xbox, and no matter how similar it is to a PC, thats a different OS, different way of routing power, lots of differences. It may appear as easy as just having to give keyboard keys, but there is a lot more- not to mention, a game on the XBox has to be SEVERELY toned down, resolution and texture wise. Putting it on PC too would force a lot of bad stuff.

Actually, the latest Xbox games have graphics comparable to PC graphics. It may only be a low-performance PC but it performs like a higher midrange one due to not having to run anything but the game.
Yeah, the only reason an X-Box game looks even comparable to a PC game is that PC games are designed to run on the lowest possible PC that they can. If companies designed for 64 bit Athlons or P4 Extreme Editions plus Radeon x800 or Nvidia 6800 (or whatever Nvidia is naming them right now) the games would look so beautiful it would make your head hurt. Just look at DOOM3 for a comparison of PC vs XBOX power, or look at the Unreal 3 engine to see what things are going to be like in a few years for PCs, which will have upgraded by then, and not XBoxes, which will be footstools by then.
And yeah, I spelled X-BOX 4 different ways.

Xbox 2 is slated for either a late 2005 or early 2006 release. Of course Xbox will be a footstool by then, consoles don't sit around twiddling their thumbs while PCs upgrade.
Oh, and Quaunaut, that's great but I didn't say anything about polys or anti-aliasing. The games <i>look</i> comparable to PC games, regardless of whatever tricks are used.
