Could we learn alittle about your setup please,

Are you trying to install steam on 2 PCs with HL and NS.

or

Steam on 1 PC with 2 accounts?

Also how many copys of HL do you have, since steam will only allow 1 CD key per account.

If you only have the one copy of HL you are both going to have to play off the same account im afraid.

if your using 1 PC, make shure you install it twice, one under your bro's e-mail and one in your email

ex:
install in:
C:\valve\steam\steamapps\yourbro@mail.com\
then in:
install in:
C:\valve\steam\steamapps\you@mail.com\
