<div class="IPBDescription">Strange problem, but only over LAN</div> When trying to plan NS over a LAN, I find that the game sometimes pauses. Not a proper "This Game Is Paused" pause, but more like a freeze. I'm not sure what causes it, but to start the game running again someone has to press [ESC] twice. And it doesn't seem to matter who presses it, it can be the server or a client.
I'm running NS v3.0b4a through Steam. Steam is fully updated and all other games work fine. This pausing doesn't happen when playing on Internet servers. All the LAN computers are Athlon2000+ with 512mb RAM, SBLive's and Radeon9800Pros. All the drivers for all the hardware are fully up to date. Steam is using OpenGL graphics mode at 1024x768x32bpp.
I'm midway through downloading the dedicated server files for NS. I'll set that up and try using it instead of running a listen server on a client. I'll post an update when I've tried it.
I have had this problem before. Back when NSv3.0b1 was out, I had *exactly* the same problem. Now I come back to the game hoping the problem has been found and fixed to find exactly the same thing happening. I take it this isn't a common problem?
