They're for aiming, not looking pretty
Attached is a .zip with 2 sprite files and the necessary textfiles to convert your LMG, HMG, pistol, and parasite crosshairs. I found the stock crosshairs to obscure my target more than they aided in aiming, so I switched to the 1.04/current spectating crosshair. Alas, I often lost track of its small, yellow, center-less self in a heated firefight, so I made these. The contents of the .zip:
xhairmarine.spr - blue version of the crosshair
xhairmarine_yellow.spr - yellow version, and the one I use for everything
4 .txt files - these tell NS to use this crosshair for the weapons they're named after
You'll have to edit the relevant textfiles if you want to use the yellow crosshairs for anything. I also made the textfiles by, originally, copying in the weapon_machinegun.txt contents from 1.04, so they'll fiddle with your weapon-selection hud if you use them. This never bothered me, since I use keyboard + fastswitch to switch weapons, but if it's an issue for you, it's easy to fix. You merely need to copy in the .spr files *only*, and then edit your existing textfiles to point to this sprite. I'm pretty sure all the relevant .spr files are the same size anyways, so the coordinates should work.
If you can't make it happen, forum PM me or something, I'll help you out.
Remember, these crosshairs are not here to look good. They are intended to kill things.
The .zip is attached to this post and I'll attach a demo image to the next post.

Using =)
EDIT: Just noticed, they totally **** up my hud, the killsprites and everything else :<
uh... if you want those CHs just use them. Just some minor txt-editing is needed to get them working
I fixed it, i don't know how but my "hud.txt" was gone.
1. standardized and improved the naming scheme. All the sprite files are named "xhairaim_color.spr" where "color" is replaced by the color of the sprite, abbreviated. Currently included in the .zip are: blue (blu), yellow (ylw), and red (red).
2. Obtained original textfiles and edited those to use the blue crosshair, but keep all the correct hud sprites for weapon selection and so on.
If you just unzipped this archive into your sprites folder, it would replace the LMG, HMG, pistol, and parasite with the blue version of this crosshair. If you want to use another color for a given weapon and change the color abbreviation. So, for example, if you wanted to use the yellow sprite for parasite, you would take the following steps:
1. open weapon_parasite.txt
2. find the two instances of "xhairaim_blu" in the text file
3. replace "blu" with "ylw"
4. save and close the text file
This is nominally a final version, but if you want to request it in another color, you can feel free. Forum PM is suggested as I'll stop monitoring this thread within a week or so.
