Differant Types Of Comm Warnings

I for one find the current "Your base is under attack" a little too much of a generalisation. Half the time its just telling me that some annoying skulk is chewing on a rt thats on the other side of the map and that no one can get to in time. I find myself ignoring it as id much rather be trying to keep my marines alive than be looking at a dwindling rt that i can do nothing about. When i have a moment i will check it out but otherwise i tend to ignore the warnings. However due to this i find that i lose a lot of pgs and arms labs etc. Is there any chance of putting in custom warnings for each marine building. eg "Your phase gate is under attack" etc. If i heard ur rt is under attack i could ignore it but if its that vital pg outside the 2nd hive then i could galvinise marines into phasing and saving it. The only reason i post this is that i find that a lot of comms on pub servers do not realise when important buildings go down. It seems to happen a lot. Something like this could really help the comm to focus in on the areas which are vital rather than those whihc can be ignored or dealt with after med spamming the marine whos about to kill the aliens only fade. What do u guys think. Would these sort of warnings be useful or are they just a wase of time?

I think they'd be useful, but if you don't mind, I'd like to broaden this thread to include alien messages as well. Not the under attack ones, those are pretty good. No, I mean the ones aliens get when they try to do something they can't. Right now the default message is "You need more resources".

For instance, say marines have come around and wiped out all of one particular type of evolution chamber. When you try to get that upgrade, the message it tells you is "You need more resources." While I suppose this is technically accurate (as chambers are a type of resource for the team) it's really not the most helpful.

I was sitting there with 14 res, trying to get celerity so I could get back to the other hive quickly and start hitting the marines and kept getting this "You need more resources" message. Little did I know that they'd managed to remove all of our movement chambers.. I wound up getting frustrated, because the hive was still listing MC's as being linked to it, and I had plenty of resources, so it took me a while to figure out the problem.

Come to think of it, why doesn't the commander hear "resource tower is under attack" while the Aliens do? Perhaps leave the "your base is under attack" message for upgrade centers (Observatory, Arms Lab, Prototype labs, perhaps Armory, etc.), and apply "your structures are under attack" for any other structure that would normally appear on the field (Phase Gate, Turret Factories and Turrets/Siege). I don't feel that the commander should have total control over every aspect of the game, but instead use quick thinking to respond to any type of threat that exposes itself. Even in the alteration I suggested, hearing the warning that structures are taking damage should alert you that an outpost is potentially under fire, and narrows down the number of places you must check.

Kwil, nice incentive. I hate how bland Alien messages can be. If you're trying to evolve an unsupported upgrade, or build an unsupported chamber, the hivemind should say something like "you require a new host." Or perhaps when you try to evolve an upgrade that does not/no longer exists, you hear "you must posess chambers of this type."

    all aliens have is

    resorce under attack

    structure,ocs and chambs

    and hive

if rines have something under attack its either pg,rt,or right in your base
    you do have "turrets firing"

while aliens dont have "ocs firing" for those sneaky rines that run past oc and behind an rt,then drop phase
