Problem Loading Maps.

I have had NS 4a for a while and I have a problem entering servers which are on certain maps. During the "Validating resources" phase of loading, the loading box goes away and I get a new box which says:

Your map [maps/x.bsp] differs from the server's.

For me, x = Eclipse, Nothing, Agora, Metal, Tanith and Veil. So far, I have not gotten the message on any co maps or the other ns maps.

Does anyone know why it is doing this?

You must install the beta patches in a certain order.

I think we need a sticky on Thansal's guide:

    <!--QuoteBegin-Thansal+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Thansal)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Install Steam.

    2) Play HL atleast Once via Steam (just booting up the training mission will do).

    3) Download these 3 files:
    ns_install_v3_b1.exe
    ns_v30_b4_patch.exe
    ns_v30_b4a_patch.exe

    4) Install NS V3.0 Beta 1 (ns_install_v3_b1.exe) (This should auto install to steam\steamApps\your@email\half-life\nsp, if it does not, move the NSP folder there).

    5) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4 (ns_v30_b4_patch.exe) (point this at steam\steamApps\your@email\Half-Life\ do NOT include the NSP).

    6) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4a (ns_v30_b4a_patch.exe) (See * at bottom).

    7) Search your Hard drive(s) for folders named nsp.

    8) If you have more than one you messed up.  Goto Step 3.

If you folow these steps properly you will not get client.dll or map.bsp errors.

If you are positive you have folowed them corectly then redownload the installer form a different location.

*There aslo seems to be a bug with, atleast some of, the 4a installers.  Try pointing it at steamApps\your@email\ instead of steamApps\your@email\half-life

Note: This is a file stored on my desktop because I have to use it so many times.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I've reinstalled all the patches already, the NSP folder is where it's supposed to be, I've installed from multiple servers, I have the map files, they just don't work.. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    read it again.

I swear on my mothers grave...

    wait, she isn't dead..

how bout my fath... nope still alive.

    I KNOW
I swear on my Net Connection!
wait, I don't have that either (at library)

what ever, you get the idea.

They WILL work if you follow those directions exactly!

You searched your HDD for nsp? (using the search function?)

My guess is you fell victim of the messed up 4a installer.

I actually found an easier way to solve this problem.

All you have to do is delete the map files from your nsp/maps folder, and then have them reinstalled when you join a game.

the server you tried to join probably isn't running 4a yet so ur map files were different from those on the server...

yes, that works assuming you are willing to redownload all of the maps via a crapy download server when you could actualy just intall the patches properly.

not to mention that I think the client.dll was changed from 4 to 4a and thus you will have downloaded all those maps for no reason as the client.dll is still required.
