Ns At A Lan Party?

How can I introduce new players to NS?
I recently had a LAN party with about 10 other people. We mostly played Unreal Tournament 2004 and Rise of Nations, but I did manage to get people to try Natural Selection. I started off playing Combat, because it is much more like a normal FPS that these people were used to. However, later on when I tried to switch to Classic, but people were having a hard time understanding it. I tried to explain it, but they didn't get it. Is there any tutorial or tutorial map that will make it easier to teach people about NS Classic?

    Get them to play classic by themselves on servers. or together so they can share their ideas on what to do. Thats how most of us understood the game

    Most of us today, when we downloaded ns v1.0 thought "What the ****" when we tried to understand the game.

    Best thing to do is either;

    1. Read the manual.. it's long but it tellas you everything. The best manual is here, in PDF format.

    2. Play combat. I tried this with my 11yo brother last night and well.. he knows most bits of classic now from playing combat for 6/7 hours.

    3. Chat with fellow NS'ers or goto #nsguides

    4. Read the strategy forums.

    Yes, the manual is your best friend.

    I remember the last time I played NS at a LAN. Most of the people playing had no idea what to do so just had fun mucking around. We obliged them by not wiping them out in an instant, although I did singlehandedly take down a hive with my knife from full health (not really that much fun as they had no idea ). Taught them a few things (although I dont think they were paying attention). Fun was had by all, although i wonder how it would have gone if we had ever managed to get a serious game going.
