Are the minimum specs realistic?

"What will I need to play?
You need a Pentium II 400 mhz machine CPU (or equivalent non-Intel), 32 megabytes of RAM and any graphics accelerator supported by Half-life. Software rendering support is planned for the future, but not until a future release of Half-life. You also need an internet connection, a keyboard and a mouse. Windows 95 and above are supported. Lastly, you'll need a copy of Half-life or Counter-strike retail. If your machine runs one of these well, it should run Natural Selection comparably"

Well, I've heard alot mentioned about how the maps are very big, I can run halflife and cs well, but on the larger cs maps I get a lower framerate that hurts my twich abilities.
Athalon 900Mhz
188 megs of ram
Riva TNT2 with 8 megs(I have a 16 meg on my older comp, might switch them around)
Also, my operating system is Windows XP pro...which slows things down abit. I'd upgrade the ram and videocard cept I might be getting a new computer soon anywhow....

Will my rig have trouble running the slower maps, being that maps like chateu run a bit slower already?

TNT2 with 8 megs? i think the tnt2 only got released with 32 megs... anyway, i think you should be fine, NS maps have fairly low r_speeds, you should be fine s:)

    Try turning down the resolution.
I used to play CS / TFC on a p200 in software mode.

I usaully go all out, with graphics, except my resoultion. But that is just for aimming reasons. Even with the really good particle effects it should work fine for everyone that can run HL.

    516 Ram PC133(ugh)
    1600XP Athlon
    ATI 8500 128mb RAM
