<div class="IPBDescription">And I'm already looking for another host</div> Well here it is boys and girls. It features a little of my art, all of the ones there are posted on this forum.
<a href='http://www.freewebs.com/ballisto/' target='_blank'>http://www.freewebs.com/ballisto/</a>
(*) If anyone knows a lot about web programming, please tell me an easier way to do this (look at my squiggles page, that's the most complete of any of them). As in have several pictures and next buttons etc.
(*) I'm looking for another host. Freewebs is bugging me because 1) it's a little slow but 2) more importantly, it takes forever to upload all your files (you can only do it 1 at a time unless you pay)
So what I'm looking for in a host is:
1) Free. With minimum ads. I hate popups, don't want any in my page. In-page ads are fine by me.
2) Ability to upload many files at once! As in 8 pictures and 8 html documents to go with them! None of this one-at-a-time crap!
3) Simple. Not too many frills. I don't need any tutorials or wizards, all I ever do is make it on my own computer, get it working, then upload everything. I sure as hell don't want to be paying (in ads or in subscription) for stuff I don't need
And of course, enough space to hold a bunch of images.
Comments are welcome - especially bad ones. Say what you like and WHY, especially tell me what you don't like and WHY. Forumgoers here (only here) tend to be too nice about things.
Comment mainly on the squiggles section, that's the only one thats actually finished. Keep in mind that everything else is under construction.

What do you mean by "an easier way to do this"? I had a look at your squiggles page though, and I saw that you have a seperate html file for the squiggle and for the image. If you instead want to use JavaScript (makes less html files for you, the page won't have to reload either, just the image), then feel free to ask me.
The webdesign in itself is pretty boring... maybe work a bit more on that. Add menus on the sides, various tables and stuff. Make it look organized and progessional! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
DON'T use borders
DON'T leave out images for buttons, a banner, and such
DON'T use copying background pictures, like if you got a image " :-) " don't use this:
:-) :-)
:-) :-)
as a background
DON'T use animated GIFs/pictures you have found somewhere else on your site.
DON'T use overused effects on your site, like the water-reflection on image effect
...
thats it for now, hope itll help you.
As for web design, all the above don'ts are very very true.
Some more DOs and DON'Ts:
-DO use <a href='http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp' target='_blank'>CSS</a>
-DO use color
-DON'T make your page take up the whole screen. Design it so it fits in something 800-1024 pixels wide (the two most common resolutions).
-DON'T use FRAMES! Instead, make a template with nav menus and div tags, to create the effect of frames without the crappiness associated with frames.
-you CAN use a tiling background image, but not something that tiles like Wall said. Instead, make it like the one on
<a href='http://alistapart.com/' target='_blank'>A List Apart</a> (also a GREAT design site). It merely puts a gradient at the bottom of the screen in the background. Actually, ALA is a perfect example of how to do a site.
Basically, look at <a href='http://www.doomaniac.com' target='_blank'>DOOManaic.com</a> (it seems to be down at the moment). If its on Doom's site, don't do it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
<a href='http://www.doomaniac.com' target='_blank'>www.doomaniac.com</a>*, but yes, it is down.
talk to these people for web hosting.
SLServers CO
SLServers T
SLServers O
and talk to me for a layout.
THAT is what I was looking for. Imma get on it!! THankyou thankyou!
Thanks for the help! I appreciate the links... but none of them save for Dorian's work <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Whaddya guys think of blizzards webpages? I think I'm gonna base mine off their web design for screenshots.
