<div class="IPBDescription">concept from perdition flamethrower</div> Started modelling this...obviously i'm missing the front section and a little joiny bit.

Gunna redo some parts now i've had a first attempt to make them flow a bit better...but just to show u all a basic model.

    Meh...this is why its my first attempt...REDD get on MSN.

    if u see where the handle is...its actually all one piece...so its like 1400 polies...cos i wasted loads...but second version should be around 1.5k polies.

    The concept for it is mine, the final detailed drawing was done by JeeR. So, creds so far to myself, JeeR, and Udder.

    The initial idea comes from a mix between the StarCraft C-14 'Impaler' rifle, and the Flamethrower from AvP2, of course with other custom goodies. =D

    Btw, is there any way to have the HUD on the side of the gun have an actual ammo counter? That decreases as rounds are fired? That'd be the shiz. Anyway, end of the post.

    As you all can tell...i'm no modeler.

    What the hell is a chamfer? What does it do? Who invented it? Why does that guy want it on the model? Why dont you guys want it on the model?

    So many questions, so many answers, so little time. God help us all.

    Seriously though, what is a chamfer?

    It looks ok, but there isn't much to look at this early stage.

    My first thought was where did the polys go? (2,000? For one side?) but there's no way for me to find inefficient spots without a wireframe.

    Burn, they all went into the handle...i was playing around with getting a nice handle. 1400 polys...thats where all the polys went.

    Meh, second attempt its at less than 1000 polys...so i'm gunna carry on.

    well without chamfers it would be simply an extruded spline, it'll look pretty blocky and no ergonomics

    Except for the fact i don't use splines.

    Anyways....it isn't blocky...most of the shapes have chamfered edges. I'll post in a couple o days when i've got it fully done. Cheers for the input, and feel free to continue with positive c&c.

    I really like the main concept of it but somehow i think the pictures has a bit too much detail. Oh yea and optamize the darn thing lol!

    By the way, are there any seasoned meshers/skinners lurking about this thread? It'd be great to find someone soon, so they can start work as soon as Udder has finished, if they've got time that is.

    GET GMAX

    gmax is a build of max wich is completly free (g stands for games)

    gmax only lacks the ability to render and the use of certain special effects.
    but its perfect for modeling and exporting

    that only means that u cant export into it directly you have to go over milkshape

    Gmax was hard for me to get a grasp on, that's probably why i'm not a modeler...
