A Particular Ns Command

<div class="IPBDescription">+moveup?</div> A while ago, during the great script wars (haha.), I remember reading someone's post about a +moveup command.

I've been skulking a lot recently, and the ability to move up in real space instead of having to look that way and go forward would be invaluable.

However, when I did bind something to +moveup, it used my point of view as a refrence to moving up. I.E. if I was looking forward, I would go up in the map sense. However, if I was looking straight up (Well, not straight up, since the pitchup is locked at 89, heh), and pressed it, I would move up.. along the floor.

Now, it's much easier for me (In terms of spacial relations) to move up as a constant, based on the map's "up", and I was curious if there was a command to do this.

Nope, only +jump which does not work how I assume you'd like it to, i.e. moving up on a wall while looking straight down or at an angle. This is an aspect of the game that requires a considerable amount of skill in using combinations of movement keys. The only way I can think of (right now anyway) to create such a command would be through scripting, which would not be very practical since your view would snap straight up when you use it.

Best you could do would be to master using +moveup and then combinations of strafing and back/forwards motion depending on the way you're looking.

This is as I figured. I remember a patch log a while back changing up to be relative to the playerview for everything but the lerk. Or something.

The only problem I have is that I have so many keys bound out that I had to give up my flashlight (Never use the thing anyway), which is F.. Difficult to strafe and stuff when your finger's on F. Heh.

I guess I'll have to bind it to a mousekey and practice a lot.

    Thanks for the help.

+moveup is one of the great unused commands. I dont understand why it matters if its relative to point of view. If you are not looking level, then you have no need for +moveup, you mite as well use forward, or a combination of the two. I can not think of an instance when +moveup would be used when you are not looking level.

As I said, I asked because it was a bit clumsy using moveup.

It'll take a lot of practice, and breaking the habit of looking up a wall when climbing it, heh.
