to pub 'rines on killing high life forms
When playing on public servers, how often do you find yourself barricaded into an area (maybe there are turrets, maybe a phase gate, maybe it is your starting spawn), and in early-mid game, you get a fade or two harassing you, or in late game, you add an onos or two onto there (yes, the game may be essentially over by that time anyway, but that isn't the point of this topic). They run in, kill one or two people, get shot a bit, and run out, rinse, repeat. Now its time for everyone to do what they can to stop this.
A res **** hoarding for fade or onos hurts their team a lot if you kill them early, and even a major harassment offensive against your location can at least be weakened by taking out one of the higher life forms. So, here are the do's and don'ts, so you can actually help your team and pistol whip that onos.
The most important thing i find is to have one or two marines hiding next to the door. The fade/onos assumes that they can escape after taking the damage of some lmg clips, and that they will be able to have time to regen before being hit again. Dont allow them that.
So, have one or two marines hide behind the door, do not push forward out into the hallway, you will die or be eaten. Bring the fade/onos to you. Have the rest of the people standing inside the room/secured area (which on pubs most people will be doing anyway). Wait for the fade/onos (or both if there is more than one) to run completely into the room where they are open to fire on all sides. The person (people) in front of the door now step into the doorway and commence firing at the fade/onos. (have someone at any other doorways too, if the room makes it necessary). When they get low on life they will attempt to run out... do not stop shooting. Marines in the door, it is your job to block the fade/onos, who, now at low health, will have escape as their highest priority (rather than attacking). You may get killed, but you have a very good chance of holding the fade/onos there long enough to get killed.
Secondly, tactic two, whenever you see a fade/onos that seems overly concerned with getting out of the area, chase it down and empty all your clips into it, chances are it is really hurt (ive gotten dozens of pistol onos kills this way).
This method should make it much easier to do away with higher lifeforms, even without strong or upgraded weaponry.
(i'm not saying its flawless, but its a lot better than the current pub strategy which involves shooting it every time it comes in until it goes away, then comes back a minute later)
So, the plea is:
Block the exits to trap enemies in the room
If they are blocked, shoot them for heaven's sake
If they escape after being hurt a lot, chase them down and finish them off while you can
Thank you

then dont camp/hide, just run over to the door and block it once they are inside. The point isn't to have two more people shooting, but to block them for that crucial second they are trying to escape. SoF wont help them with that

It works. But it requires teamwork and teammates with IQ higher than room temperature.
Sollution for Onos: Couple HMGs
Add a dash of Aim, Problem solved.
They can be killed!
Impy: About how many of those ~700 posts of yours have been absolutely worthless, like the one in this topic, and why are you here on these forums? Don't have a spare $9.95 laying around?
Its rather unfortunate that the most effective strats cannot be grasped by the simplest of people.
What makes it all the more worrying is that they'd subconsciously employed the strat several times, but when it was pointed out to them, they couldn't understand. GG.
I know exactly what to do in that situation, nope I won't tell! (Half ppl already know how )
But sof does cancel to about 90 percent every chance of being blocked, if you play smart.
Intelligence of enemy terrain is a BIG plus, sof does that better than motion!
That was back in 1.04. Now, ALL marines are scared
