Resident Evil: Apocalypse

No, not another game...
Resident Evil: Apocalypse has a tangible release time and a trailer to watch. I remember the first one, I liked it. It didn't really follow the storyline but it was just a nice watch, save for a few areas that were kinda stupid. (Why did their teeth rot to nothing in the matter of days?!) The synopis looks like they are trying to follow the RE storyline since they are including chracters from RE3:N in it. Of course, everything is twisted around, but Hollywood has that ability. The trailer, well, it looks like they are turning it into an edge of your seat action/thriller movie with more emphasis on action. I will of course go and watch it on release day because well, I'm a consumer prostitute. But it at least looks like it will be a good movie, the kind you would watch on Halloween or something. Who knows though, they may actually follow the storyline of the RE series. One can only hope.

But this looks like its the main link.
Ill go see it when it hits the UK in 2020....
The first film was utter dross that was a pox on the franchise's good name. It had zombies which self-conciously cracked their necks for crying out loud. Paul Thomas Anderson can burn in Hollywood Hell along with Uwe Boll, Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay; students of the gratuitous, hollow style of film-making. This film looks to be no better.
Yet I am weak, I flock to the very title "Resident Evil". I will be seeing it at the cinema, if only for a hopefully decent CGI Nemesis. Apocalypse is like Aliens Vs Predator, a film that can't possibly be good, but one that must be seen because of its heritage.
Ah well, I really didn't like the first because the zombies weren't necessarily zombies....you know, those really slow, dumb, and flesh eating zombies that trip over phone cables on the floor that only know to chase fresh meat?

Indeed, the zombies in the first film were a joke.
As for the Outbreak zombies, I believe it's more of a weak lunge that ends up scratching the person and infecting them, although they still prefer to bite. They certainly aren't no Crimson Heads, galloping all over the place.
Sweet Moses.
From the shots, they looked like black lickers... without the tongues.

I wonder if they woefully mutate, complete with substandard CGI, akin to the first film.
EDIT: Spelling, and yeah, Necro, tell that to Paul Anderson and director debutant Alexander Witt.
That's cool in Sonic Adventure. Seriously, I want to see what they did to her to make her be able to do that.
WTH?! Why is Jill Valentine there?!
And those black lickers barely look like lickers, brain needs more exposure and be more of a light-greenish hue. Right now they look like they are wearing showercaps that fit the color of their skin :o
And teh Nemesis looks like teh sarks.
Boy would this conflict with a lot of the RE storyline....heck I think I can act even more of a zombie in RE than them
Caboose: If you have a Gamecube, I suggest the Resident Evil remake (aka REmake.) It has a moe fleshed out storyline, nice CGI, atmosphere, etc. Not to mention it doesn't have the **** real life acting the first one had or the soap opera dubbing either. Just be prepared, the game is about 85% puzzles with 5% combat and the other 10% being running the frek away. When you get farther down the RE line of 2 and 3, they start becoming more action. In RE3, the puzzles are simple and completed in the area you encounter them.

I think she had a wire or something on her back.
There is horror in RE games? Where, hidden behind a prerendered, unmovable crate which is in turn hidden behind the comedic value?
But yeah, I just saw two newish zombie movies back to back (RE1 and the Dawn of the Dead remake). Both sucked pink elephant dongs through a plastic coke straw.
The zombie makeup in the DotD remake was okay, but apart from that the movie is somewhat amateurish and there is no actual horror present because every shock can be seen coming miles away, and no suspense, psychological or otherwise, is in any way present.
As for Resident Evil, well... ick. Ick. Bleh. More verbose commentary would include the utter pointlessness of the entire movie, a plotline so full of holes you could squeeze a roomful of nemesises through at the same time, badly produced score and various other major glitches. The sets were okay, though, and lights too.
If they intend to make the next RE movie even marginally better, the following guidelines should help:
1) Plot has to make sense. For crying out loud, even following an individual's struggle to survive out of Bad CGI City is more exciting than the last film. Please no more "So, our Dexter's lab the size of deathstar broke down. Let's send one team of minimally armed people to find out why."
2) Musically nothing wrong with Mr. Manson's score for RE1. However, more attention must be paid to find a suitable song for a scene. Come on, grinding guitar riffs and drum machine beats are cool if there's a fight going on, but please, please, do try something different for scenes that work on suspension or fright alone.
3) Not for the RE sequel alone: Please, oh please stop giving money and film rights to Uwe Boll!
Here's hoping that the rumoured Silent Hill movie will follow the mood of the game series, especially part two. A horror movie without Hollywood show-off occult and explaining everything so even the slowest hick can follow the plot would be so sweet. Also, I'm praying that someone in a big film studio will some day realize that bizarre ambient and noise music are perfect scores to horror films. Nu-metal is frightening for all the wrong reasons.
