Curse Of The 42 Fps

Long story short :
Several different cards. Yes I've clean installed (the whole windows once, and between each card the drivers). I generally get good FPS in NS, but some random objects (sometimes even the minimap) will drop me to 42 FPS - and even lower with added action, for apparently no reason.

I've confirmed several other people experience this too. Anyone able to help?

    Yea, I get that too during times when there is lots of action. Figured it is just my crappy card along with crappy Wally World comp and a need for more RAM. I keep system clean, defragged, and updated with minimal processes running.

    Might have to upgrade anyway when HL2 is released. Also Doom 3 comes out next month.

    Interested to see the ideas that come up.
