Tired of Fileplanet...
I have for the past few years, used Fileplanet as my main means of downloading files. Well, back in the day when it was just Fileplanet with no affiliations, it was good. The downloads were fast, lines were smaller and it didn't suck. Now that it is affiliated with Gamespy, it just plain old sucks, horribley. I"ll cut myself off there before I rant further...

I would like to know of any good download sites out there that you all use. Most of the reliable ones I can find are just like Fileplanet and requires to register for one of their "free accounts."

dlx.gamespot.com is good but you require a free membership. Frankly, I don't see what's so bad about that, as their download speeds are only about 10kbps slower than Fileplanet subscribers get. I had to sign up there to get the hi-res F.E.A.R. video.

What are you talking about? Fileplanet user's speeds depend on their speed. There isn't a limit.

If it's any good as a gaming related file and legal we'll mirror it on request. But it's a tiny mirror by comparison just yet, and relies on someone telling us on the forums

There is a limit on fileplanet. I don't get my max speed. (1.1mbit/sec)
    I get around max 300.
    It's good, but it's a limit.

I have 7xx KB/sec download and I get xx on fileplanet, I doubt 1.1 mbit/sec means you'll get it full every time..

FragFiles isn't exactly all inclusive, but what files it has can be downloaded faster than it would take to... do other stuff. It's a fast site.

Just google for it; I cannot see why anyone bothers to wait 1+ hours just to get the download started. Local gaming sites are usually a better option than... *urk* ...fileplanet.

    Gamers Hell.

Just google for that. Tons of game demos, patches, etc etc, fast downloads (600+KBps even overseas sometimes)

Just use FireFox. Such tools are included in it's download manager.

People that have broadband shouldn't need that option. I have gotten 400k downloads and usually average around 340k, but with fileplanet, I am forced to donwload at 130k.

You can get a lot of popular patches/demos/gameplay videos over bittorrent as well.
