Installing Ns Problem(s) :$

First of all I want to appologise for posting a topic which seamingly has already mentioned problems in this forum. I've read alot of thease topics...
When I first installed steam (& ns);
Steam and Cs installed just fine. I initialized hl and cs as I had read you should... I took my read OLD ns folder (v1.0 - 10/29/02) and copied to the hl folder just as the instructions where... Great Steam found ns. Now I updated ns with; ns_v30_b4_patch.exe which I understood should be a full-version patch. But this patch made another dir called nsp... And steam did not find this folder/game-folder..
Then I tried copying my friends ns folder to my half-life folder and Steam found it.. But the server filtering doesn't find any servers at all then, and if I try to create my own game it just loads a while and then the loading-menu disappears.
I am very confused on how you install this game... Even though I have read the installation-guide posted in this forum.

basically i would reconmend keeping all the things u need and start again - that might help.
Cause it will deff work
Asnd follow every step (well you can skip installing steam, as that is done)
what you did wrong was probably trying to use the patches on sometihng that wasn't NS V3.0 Beta 1 (as I said, READ the instructions)

2) Play HL atleast Once via Steam (just booting up the training mission will do).
3) Download these 3 files:
ns_install_v3_b1.exe
ns_v30_b4_patch.exe
ns_v30_b4a_patch.exe
4) Install NS V3.0 Beta 1 (ns_install_v3_b1.exe) (This should auto install to steam\steamApps\your@email\half-life\nsp, if it does not, move the NSP folder there).
5) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4 (ns_v30_b4_patch.exe) (point this at steam\steamApps\your@email\Half-Life\ do NOT include the NSP).
6) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4a (ns_v30_b4a_patch.exe) (See * at bottom).
7) Search your Hard drive(s) for folders named nsp.
8) If you have more than one you messed up. Goto Step 3.
If you folow these steps properly you will not get client.dll or map.bsp errors.
If you are positive you have folowed them corectly then redownload the installer form a different location.
*There aslo seems to be a bug with, atleast some of, the 4a installers. Try pointing it at steamApps\your@email\ instead of steamApps\your@email\half-life
