Unable To Connect To Steam

<div class="IPBDescription">NS just installed now STEAM doesn't work</div> Hello,

My roommate and I just installed NS to our current STEAM folders. We went step-by-step on the install process; and now, for some reason, neither of our STEAM accounts will load up. The window stays stuck at "updating STEAM," then eventually pings out.

The end result is a message saying we are unable to connect to the STEAM server.

Any clue?

    hey,
    becuase some many people are download the update for the New steam that you yourself cant downlaod it. Maybe try in an hour or so. But Ill give you a game sometime ...

    I can't connect to steam right now either. I think its the authentication servers that are down, AND WILL THAT freaking DOG NEXT DOOR STOP BARKING PLEASE FFS.

    Anyway, it will probably be back in a few hours. Me, I'm off to play UT2004.

    FIX!
    OK here'e the fix guys: Go into your Valve/Steam/SteamApss folder.
    Move the platform.gcf to your desktop OR simply delete it.
    Start up steam, it will downlaod hte platform.gcf and you will be connected!
    Fun!

    i've reinstalled ns as well as steam and now i cannot connect to steam to update it. damn this is annoying.

    well anyway, quite a while ago they changed a lot of the ns maps (e.g. adding the doors by marine spawn in eclipse) and now that i have reinstalled ns, i will have to dl all of them agn.. : /

    where can i find map packs where i can dl the newer versions of the ns maps? it'll be much faster than dling it from the server each time

    any help much appreciated..
