Its my first post in NS forum.
Yesterday, I wanted to play some NS. So, I opened my Cheating-Death bechause most servers need it. I checked it for updates, and new update was out. So I downloaded it and installed it. It said that Cheating-Death has been succesfully updated. I ran game and connected to the server (a finland server Auria Peliskaista or something..), but I cannot join anymore, it throws me out of Natural-Selection to desktop and it closes the NS. I cannot play. I reinstalled C-D but it wasn't any help. I have ran many different gameservers and all have the same problem. There wasnt such problem before updating it..
Should I reinstall the NS? I have version 2.0 right now.
Are there only betas about vers 3? Can I replace my old NS to new 3 .. beta and play sucesfully in servers?

maybe the new cheating death version has some problems with 2.0
u play via steam or won servers?

I now downloaded the newer version of NS and it automatically installed it to steam catalog. I can only connect the newer version 3 beta 1 by steam and this takes so much ****** time. I am so **** off.
Why that thing automatically installed it to steam folder? There were no buttons like browse or something else expect NEXT button in install window... And my brother has messed something up here, so that I cannot find uninstall applications... How can i uninstall the older version?
Also I can only play newer version through steam bechause i cannot find NS aplication there, only some other aplications..
My head just explodes.
And I connected to voogru.com and I have the map but it says that differs from it.. What the..? Also some dll files are wrong... I still cannot connect to any server. I can hear voices and sound but cannot see picture, till it disconnects me..
And that steam connects to the game and server for ages...
Guide for instilation:
1) Install Steam.
2) Play HL atleast Once via Steam (just booting up the training mission will do).
3) Download these 3 files:
ns_install_v3_b1.exe
ns_v30_b4_patch.exe
ns_v30_b4a_patch.exe
4) Install NS V3.0 Beta 1 (ns_install_v3_b1.exe) (This should auto install to steam\steamApps\your@email\half-life\nsp, if it does not, move the NSP folder there).
5) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4 (ns_v30_b4_patch.exe) (point this at steam\steamApps\your@email\Half-Life\ do NOT include the NSP).
6) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4a (ns_v30_b4a_patch.exe) (See * at bottom).
7) Search your Hard drive(s) for folders named nsp.
8) If you have more than one you messed up. Goto Step 3.
If you folow these steps properly you will not get client.dll or map.bsp errors.
If you are positive you have folowed them corectly then redownload the installer form a different location.
*There aslo seems to be a bug with, atleast some of, the 4a installers. Try pointing it at steamApps\your@email\ instead of steamApps\your@email\half-life
Note: This is a file stored on my desktop because I have to use it so many times.
Regarding CD, I haven't tried today using CD, but in the past CD didn't keep up with Steam updates and would cause your problem. Given a new Steam update came out today I am sure it is a CD problem. Wait a few days for CD to catch up. Your servers shouldn't be requiring it because everyone will have same problem you are having.
BTW: Just started CD and updated to 4.22.5 and worked fine for me. Make sure you have that version.( Mine went from 4.22.3 to 4.22.5, you may have the 4.22.4)
1) CD Sucks <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> (it is a hack (CD) trying to run on a hack (NS) trying to detect Hacks (cheats) thus it tends to make NS not work often)
oh, and a hack is any piece of code that is just sorta worng (in the case of NS it is making the HL engine do things it shouldn't be able to)
2) Yes, The new versions of NS are technicaly Steam only
you can play on WON
HOWEVER WON WILL be shutting down soon
AND NS 3.0 will cause some wierd things when [played with a WON install of HL
AND there are about 5 servers that run 3.0 on WON
AND I don't feel like explaining the proces atm.
