<div class="IPBDescription">Because I felt like it</div> Well I came across the thread for the <!--emo&::tsa::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tsa.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tsa.gif' /><!--endemo--> emoticon, and Quaunaut suggest an alien one. So I made one for some other forums I'm setting up, and figured that it might go well here too.
So without further ado: <img src='http://dorian.carpe-noctem.ca/alien_logo.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
That's a 16-color gif, weighing in at 476 bytes.
I couldn't see any difference between that and <img src='http://dorian.carpe-noctem.ca/alien_logo256.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />, which is the 256 color version, so I just stuck with the 16 color one since its 1/4 the size.
Edit: actually almost every poster suggested this, but it never got done for some reason...

I think the emotions should be fully shown (like a smiliey face or the TSA logo) but that dosnt look... right <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Agreed!
Keep up the good work guys, and PM me when you think you've done all you can to improve the filesize. From there I'll ask the other staff members if I can put it in.

Cookie: Which icon thread? I just made it no less than 5 minutes ago, from <a href='http://www.natural-selection.org/images/ns-poster.jpg' target='_blank'>this image.</a>
Well, that'll probably destroy the "eye" feel, and just make it look terrible from preliminary tests. However, I'll keep trying it.
see? looks *really* bad if you remove the surrounding black. Sure it blends into the site better, but it doesn't really look that much like the eye now. Someone new seeing it would probably be left wondering what exactly it is. PNG level transparency would probably help it a lot, but they're not really that well supported (at least by IE)
