<div class="IPBDescription">Because I felt like it</div> Well I came across the thread for the <!--emo&::tsa::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tsa.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tsa.gif' /><!--endemo--> emoticon, and Quaunaut suggest an alien one. So I made one for some other forums I'm setting up, and figured that it might go well here too.

So without further ado: <img src='http://dorian.carpe-noctem.ca/alien_logo.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
That's a 16-color gif, weighing in at 476 bytes.
I couldn't see any difference between that and <img src='http://dorian.carpe-noctem.ca/alien_logo256.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />, which is the 256 color version, so I just stuck with the 16 color one since its 1/4 the size.

Edit: actually almost every poster suggested this, but it never got done for some reason...

I'm not sure. It doesn't look like an emoticon but more like a small picture.

I agree with fog_cartoons, i think it looks like a small picture.
I think the emotions should be fully shown (like a smiliey face or the TSA logo) but that dosnt look... right <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

yeah, it's too big. all of the standard smilies are 20x20, whereas this one is 32x27.

I'm pretty sure all of the forum emoticons were drawn pixel by pixel just for the forums. If we DO have an eye icon, it should blink ever now and then <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Does anyone agree this icon would fit the game icon next to 'my games' list in steam?!

I can definitely see why so many people want this eye icon. As I'm sure many of you have already noticed, our emoticons range from around 153 bytes to a little over 600. I realize 476 bytes is within this range, but if anyone here knows any crazy picture editing methods to make the filesize even smaller, it would help. It's much easier to convince fellow mods/admins to include a new icon when it's been optimized.

Keep up the good work guys, and PM me when you think you've done all you can to improve the filesize. From there I'll ask the other staff members if I can put it in.

Cookie: Which icon thread? I just made it no less than 5 minutes ago, from <a href='http://www.natural-selection.org/images/ns-poster.jpg' target='_blank'>this image.</a>

I doubt it. It's little more then a well-shrunken and compressed sprite. If you want it to be considered for conclusion I would highly suggest you do somthing about the black background.

Well, that'll probably destroy the "eye" feel, and just make it look terrible from preliminary tests. However, I'll keep trying it.

see? looks *really* bad if you remove the surrounding black. Sure it blends into the site better, but it doesn't really look that much like the eye now. Someone new seeing it would probably be left wondering what exactly it is. PNG level transparency would probably help it a lot, but they're not really that well supported (at least by IE)
