This is a follow-up to coil's excellent <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75776' target='_blank'>thread</a> on the subject.

You'll need:<ul><li>Sticky tape,</li><li>Nikko pen (Permanent marker),</li><li>Cutting board,</li><li>Stanly knife (Or other really sharp knife),</li><li>Some Methylated spirits.</li></ul>Get the cutting board and wipe it down with the metho to remove all the oil and whatnot. Stick a length of sticky tape to it. 30 cm should do.

<img src='http://systems.webopedia.com/FIG/DVORAK.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Write all the keys that you'll need onto the sticky tape, leave a little (3mm) spacing between each letter/symbol. Let the ink dry then stick another layer of tape down over the previous one. Then get your stanly knife and cut up the strip, one letter per square. Use your knife to peel them off the cutting board and stick them to your keyboard in the above manner.

Hey-presto! A durable, cheap and effective way to <a href='http://www.gigliwood.com/abcd/abcd.html' target='_blank'>try out</a> Dvorak!

Woo!

[Edit] Just noticed I borked up the close-curly-brace sticker. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Technically it's alcohol so you will need to have an older person buy it. It's not meant for drinking but some people do it anyway. It's purple (I think, haven't used it for years).

    "Not meant for drinking"? Oh, so <i>that's</i> why the word P O I S O N is embossed on the side of the bottle!

    Seriously. Just because it's in the same chemical group as alcohol doesn't mean it's meant for drinking. Drinking meths is a fast way to end up in hospital.

    Look on the bright side, at least it isn't Hydroflouric Acid.

    And I think I'll pass on using a Dvorak Keyboard because I'm too used to a qwerty keyboard.

    And there I thought that was the downside, with the warning-label removal act.(pfft bash.org=win)

    Um....yeah. What if we have a black keyboard?

    Think if I want to try it I'll just use the tried and tested 'Rip all the keys out and stick them in wrong' method <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I worked at Coles supermarkets in Australia and anyone could buy metho. Granted we might get curious if a 12 year old bought 40 litres, but hey, it's not like we could stop them.

    I may have to try this Dvorak out.

    A lot of worse off people (financially) drink it and they don't end up in hospital.

    Could be down to a few things.

    1. Different laws. I'm in Scotland.
    2. Laws have changed.
    3. I've got a bad memory.

    Please do NOT go and drink methylated spirits. To break it down, "methylated spirits" is about 98% ethanol, 2% methanol.

    METHANOL WILL MAKE YOU GO BLIND. Even in that small quantity. So please DON'T drink it.

    On the other hand, if you're blind, you will definitely learn to touch type, since you can't stare at the keys.

    Metho in Australia has a special additive that makes it taste like crap. Even getting it on your fingers, washing them with soap then sticking them in your mouth resusts in a really foul taste for a good while.

    The other day I went to the shop and bought a litre of orange juice and a litre of metho. The lady behind the counter gave me a weird look...

    She probably looked at you weird because you spelled it "litre."

    scythe seems to be talking about "bittergent" or it's equivalent (used in the states and canada on stuff like superglue, some markers and rubber cement)

    for the record: all alcohol sold with a chemical name on it is considered "denatured" which means drinking it is bad. pure alcohol does very bad things to your: eyes, liver, stomach, brain, heart, mouth, blood etc. not friendly

    just wondering: do you think isopropyl alcohol will work, i have some lying around (70% pure)

    any form of chemical alcohol has two uses:
    sanitation/disinfection
    pyromaniacy
