The Official Doom 3 Hardware Guide
<div class="IPBDescription">A comprehensive read</div> HardOCP have posted an extremely detailed performance guide for Doom 3, garnered from days spent at Id's offices testing a wide array of components, which goes above and beyond the depth of previous benchmarks.
So, if you want to know how Doom 3 will run on your computer, take a <a href='http://www2.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NjQ0' target='_blank'>gander.</a>
Looks like it's 800x600 at medium detail for me, perhaps 1024x768 at a stretch, but looking at the screens I'm in for a treat.

I was shocked at how damn good low quality looks. You guys on the MX cards won't be missing much after all!
Also, for those that fear they can't run DOOM 3 because they're too close to the min specs:
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->In the world of gaming, id Software has been credited with many firsts, and they are about to achieve one more. id wanted the minimum required computer specifications for DOOM 3, or the “min spec system” requirements, to reflect a system that can actually provide what the game has to offer. Many times we've seen min spec systems not come close to providing a good gaming experience, but that will not be the case with DOOM 3. The min spec system outlined on the DOOM 3 packaging is very playable, and we will prove that to you in our guide. This alone should let many of you know whether or not you have a DOOM 3 capable system. The fact is that id Software has done a tremendous job in optimizing DOOM 3 for computers that are two years old or older. If you have a 1.5GHz Pentium and a 3D card that has been made in the last couple of years, you should be able to enjoy the DOOM 3 experience as it was meant to be.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
This isn't publisher PR bs either, this is HardOCP. These guys are trustworthy, so when they say it plays well I believe them.

Except they tested it on everything from a GeForce 4 MX to a GeForce 6800 OC.

Doom 3... Tuesday... perpare yourselves for an awesome exprience.
About bloody **** time, go ID!
I don't care about HL2s previous claims of scalibilty, if thats the lowest quality for DOOM3 and playable on the cards outlined.. I'm truely impressed.
It almost makes me want to go out and buy a system that just scrapes in and see how it runs <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Why? It's not exactly an engrossing read for 99% of the world's population, and most of the article just serves to highlight how much better life would be if you were rich.
Winnar.
1.6 Athlon @ 1.8, 9600 Pro 256 MB, 512 RAM FTW.
