<div class="IPBDescription">in co_maps</div> i'm not sure if everyone here just likes playing ns_ maps and thinking co_ maps are for newbies..but when there's a server with limited amount of ppl then i think co maps are fun.
anyway in co_maps what order do u upgrade as kharaa?
this is my usual order:
1) celerity
2) save up and get fade (heal the hive as gorge first)
3/4) cara if it takes a relatively short time to blink back to hive
3/4) regen if it takes a long time to blink back to hive
5) meta
6) focus

Skulk: Leap, Focus, SoF, Silence, Adren, Celerity, carapace, regen....
Gorge: Leap, Xeno, Adrenaline, Gorge, Carapace, Regen, Celerity, Cloaking..
Lerk: Lerk, Celerity, Carapace, Focus, Umbra, Regen, SoF
Fade: Gorge, Fade, Carapace, Celerity, Adren, Regen, Hive two and Silence, (Sometimes focus)
Onos: Gorge, Fade, Onos, Regen, Stomp, Celerity, Carapace
However if there not all that good i'd go cara celel fade then work it from there <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I second that!!! It depends on the situation. How I upgrade depends on the marines capability to shoot.
Fast Resupply - Nothing
Fast Shottie - Focus
Fast Resupply and Shottie - Cele and Focus
Remember, you're upgrading yourself to have the better advantage. I seldom use focus cuz I can kill marines pretty well with 2~3 bites. However, shotties are annoying so I use focus.
If I don't go focus, I go fade with cele and regen at first. Later I get caraspace then I save 2 upgrade points up to see HA or JP are up. If HA, I go Onos. If JP, I get focus agian to counter their lame resupply.
For fun, I sometimes go leap then xeno. This gives a couple of advantages.
1) If you press fast enuf, you can intiate xeno. Leap in, injure a few marines then KABOOM!!!
2) Try not to upgrade and just stay as skulks. KEEP YOUR UPGRADE POINTS!!! If they become strong with HA, go Onos and Charge-Devour. If the JP, go gorge and web them up.
Also, don't use your point up so fast. Keeping points while still killing marines means you're a better alien. It also provides future planning for changing situations as the game progresses. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Avoiding cele skulks by jumping or running away is also harder.
And after all, cele is must for lerks and fades too so always cele first.
Lerk: cele, cara/lerk (depens how good marines are), adre, rege, ability1+ability2 or SoF+Focus
Fade/onos: cele, cara, fade, rege, ability1, onos/focus (if many jp sg, i go for focus)
I never use cloak, it just sucks with lerk/fade/onos
usually i just go cloak, focus, leap, xeno, celerity, adren, silence (more if the server allows it)
ever xeno the entire camping marine team? 2 levels in one xeno o_0
Celerity, carapace, focus, lerk, adren, silence, regen
I don't care for fade or onos much, but skulk and lerk = nothing but L-U-V
<!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif' /><!--endemo--> all damn day
1) leap
2) save
3) save
4) fade
5) carapace
6) adrenaline
7) regen
8) save
9) focus
I once got a 102-11 ratio with this build by just blinking in, swiping, blinking out, returning to the hive when needed etc etc..
My general tactic is to fly straight at the enemy (even with shotguns) take one or two bites and fly away. Even if you don't kill anyone, you'll have scared the sh*t out of them and made them all fire wildly and not at your teammates.
Something that I find invaluable as skulk or lerk is SoF. Know your enemy => suprise your enemy => kill your enemy.
My order:
1) SoF - knowledge is power
2) <save>
3) Lerk - flying skulks are harder to hit
4) Celerity - particularly very, very fast ones
You are now uber-lerk. If your teammates are acting rational:
5) Carapace
6) Regen
7) Umbra
8) Adren
9,10) Scream
If your teammates are all doing something stupid like super-skulking
5) Umbra
6) Carapace
Then desperately try to hold them off long enough for some newcomer to onos.
But im finding these co maps alot of fun. most times I get called away from the pc at any moment, and the strategy needed for regular ns usually doesnt go well with that.
Hives under attack, and now the wife starts calling me.
With co, no real loss, at least, usually, I didnt drop 40+ mins in to lose like that.
But Ive been focusing inbetween fade and onos, sometimes favoring the fade.
Unless its damn hard, I usually just save till instant fade.
Cuz once I go fade, the kills usually pour in, blink in, pat pat, blink blink.
If having trouble, maybe grab cloaking but thats a lil cheap.
Im still undecided over regen or cara first. Ive been going regen, and its been seeming ok.
Definetly celerity over adren. I used to be adren first, I never get it now.
Only need that if spammy gorge/lerk.
As for focus, im rough with my aim now and prefer getting a few chances to get my hit in instead of putting it all in one punch. Specially for 2 points.
But ive seen some people work focus hardkore.
carapace
celerity
regen
SoF
Adrenaline
2nd ability
3rd ability
<lifeform>
..this is ONLY on servers with extended levels
1: SoF
2-3: Focus
4:Celerity
5:Cloak if marines camp..., silence if they dont
6. Carapace
7. Regen
8. Leap
9-10: Xeno
With this build, once i hit level 4-6 i can get kills faster than any higher lifeform. Simply running around behind the incursion force of marines and biting each in turn, then turning around and getting them on the way back <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
::Hint:: Marines in the back or middle of a group rarely have weapons the ready, and are usually unprepared if a skulk jumps around their buddy in front to get to them.
a focus skulk would be first in the score board early in the game, but once the armor 1 comes in and then the almighty shotgun, any skulk can die in one blast (not to mention jps or heavies).
it is then that the skulk would go back down the scoreboard (unless the team is not nearly as skilled as u).
2) Celerity
3) Leap
4) Carapace/Silence
5) Carapace/Silence
6) Scent of Fear
7) Adrenaline
8) Regeneration
10) Xenocide
I simply don't feel comfortable with Focus any later than the first minute, and I would never use Cloaking even if I had it anyway. I prefer simply choosing a good location from which to make my move.
Fade: leap, save, save, save, gorge, fade, cele, regen, cara, save, focus, silence.
Gorge (my favorite): leap, save, save, gorge, adrenline, save, save, web, cele, cara, regen, save, focus, silence.
Onos: leap, save, save, save, save, save, gorge, fade, onos, cara, redeem, regen, stomp.
1: SoF
2-3: Focus
4:Celerity
5:Cloak if marines camp..., silence if they dont
6. Carapace
7. Regen
8. Leap
9-10: Xeno

You might want to try silence early on here. This could work wonders with the focus/cele/cloak/SoF combo. In other words, don't make it an "or" statement. The Sensory upgrades beg to be put together as a skulk in co maps.
Leap <i>and</i> Stomp? Firstly, Leap and Stomp are the same upgrade; secondly, remember that you only get nine upgrade points. (That is, unless you're playing with an extended levels plugin, of which I highly disapprove.)
If the "Stomp" is an accident, that's fine; otherwise, please correct it.
<!--QuoteBegin-NukeAJS+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (NukeAJS)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->You might want to try silence early on here.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I second this notion; Silence first is simply beautiful. Although, as I said, I'm not really a fan of the two notorious Sensory upgrades, I suppose that to those who like them, Silence would be even more powerful.
<!--QuoteBegin-MamboKing+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (MamboKing)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->I don't make skulk builds that don't have the possibility of going gorge and healing the hive. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
There are usually plenty of other people who are willing to take up that task. If the hive badly needs healing, though, and no one else on the team does look that way inclined, I'll cut off at about level 6 for the Gorge. I don't really have a Gorge build, so if I do that, I tend to get whatever I feel like at the time.
Carapice
Celerity
Fade
Regen
SoF
3) Save
4) Gorge, Fade
5) Regen
6) Cara
7) Celerity
8) Silence
9) Adrenaline
10) Meta
Thats my order 90% of the time, and it works great for me. I usually play on a server with a level cap of 12, so if I do get up that high, I usually Onos. Or get Acid Rocket for humiliation =D
none of which i shall share, sorry you could improve and be harder to kill...
or you could kill me <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
BTW: making a skulk build without possibility of going gorge is ok IF, you are top 3 player on your team, meaning you have the 1, 2 or 3rd place and are raking in kills...
i dont think the top 3 players on a team should ever have to heal the hive because they are doing well, if your 3-12, you should freaking go gorge, your not gonna get any kills and you just feed the enemy, might as well go hide and gorge/adren/silence....
thats my thoguht on the game, if you suck go gorge.... lol
now also combat gorge can be pimp and if i plan to go lurk or onos my build will allow me to be a healer, but basicaly im not gonna buy adren unless im gonna be a lerk or a onos, unless im doin suppa ****, then i go perma gorge lol...
i was using my speedy xeno build which ment 3-5 mins into game i was gaiing massive xp by xenoing 1-6 people as they armory hump....
but i recently moved on to a stealth focus pimp skulk simply because it owns and xeno at 10 , meh... less xeno more bite ownage... oh well...
As skulk its
1*SAVE*
2Focus
3Silence
4Cele
5Leap
6Xeno
7regen
8cara
9SoF
as onos
1*SAVE*
2*SAVE*(if needed gorge to help healing)
3Fade
4*SAVE*
5Onos
6Cele
7Stomp
8Regen
9Cara
However i usually play at extended LVLs server so i dont care about 10lvl limit much...
I have more fun as a superskulk though, since Fade gets boring fast, knowing we'll win for sure. Plus I hate being such an easy to hit target <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Level 2 : Save
Level 3 : Focus
Level 4 : Celerity
Level 5 : Carapace
The rest from here really depends on how the marine team is playing. Usually I'll go for Level 6 SoF, since I mostly act as a one-man team, which means I need to flank and eliminate every moving group of marines.
Then Silence. Silence is fun. Silent leaping is even better. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
2) Save
3) Fade
4) if the rines are decent shots, carapace, if not, save
5) Focus if I don't have cara
6) Focus if I have cara, or cara if I have focus
7) Celerity
8) Regen
9) Unlock
2)save
3)fade
4)scent of fear
5)regen
6)save
7)onos
8)caraspace
9)adranaline or celerity (depends on what i feel like getting at the time or how the game is going......)
And here's a Fade build that I really need to revise because it always seems to take far too long to get from level 4 to level 5:
2) Celerity (I can't live without!)
5) Fade
6) Regeneration
7) Metabolise
8) Scent of Fear
10) Acid Rocket
