<div class="IPBDescription">Help!</div> I setup a Dedicated server that appears only in my LAN section in NS 2.0

I want to play alone against my new rcbot friends. Why is it when i try to join my own LAN game on the same computer it keeps saying Cannot obtain WON authentication?

I just want to setup a LAN server for me and my bots to play on, ON THE SAME MACHINE. Whats going wrong?

are you sure you have sv_lan 0 in your cfg (either listen.cfg or server.cfg, can't remember atm)

wait, why are you trying to run a dedicated on the same machine, if the only person playing is YOU?

just run a listen server.

How do you do that? I can only see Deicated server in my programs list.

Its been difficult setting up bots, just a shame i got 10 mins of play before the won went down the other day.

How do i get a listen server up?

Open NS, not Dedicated Server. Then select Create Server.

Soz bout flamin beta. I still have NS2.0 installed for some serious lan gaming and i cant find anything in the game menu or files in the folder.

you should (assuming you actualy have 2.0 installed on a WON copy of HL) be able to simply start up HL and then go to custom games and it will be there.

if you don't have it installed, then go download and install it, simple aint it?

Yeah i had ns working when the WON was on. But when i make a LAN server i cant seem to join my own game cos it cant recognise my WON address when my LAN game isnt even asking anything of the internet.

Nvmind ill get it right sometime.



2nd Question: I keep making LAN games on STeam NSBeta now. I can play fine, but when i tick my game so that it is NOT a LAN game. It still doesnt actually make a internet game (i think) cos when i type 'ip' in console, it says 'IP is LocalHost' Is this ok or hasnt it worked? I need it to appear online for ppl to join.

[edit] Thx soo much for this guys. Iv made songs and all sorts for ns but iv never tried anything advanced. Geeze look at me! Im a noob admin! Hell the only thing i know is 'kick'. (would like to learn slap ^_-)

Just clic Play on LAN , and after , Creat game , don't need to create a Dedicated server to play with bots. Plus, these bots are stupid, they are only stuck all the times , no build etc...

Soz about the confusion. Im not bothered about playing ns2.0 on LAN anymore.

Now i want to check if my NSBeta is actually online when i make a server cos no one seeming to join.
