Projectors have officially been pwned.
Credits to /. for posting about it: someone at Perdue is working with Philips to make...(yes, it's an actual big brand-name company, so you may someday be able to buy this)...a mother of a monitor. Note that this isn't quite like IMAX or other projector screens that get noticeably less detail the farther you put it from the wall hoping for some big picture. This is an actual screen (made with four projectors) approximately as detailed all over as the one you're reading this text off of now.
The question is: what would you do with it? Normally I'd say System Shock 2, but it can be scary enough with a normal monitor. I think I'd like 3 of these for front, left, and right, and I'd go nuts in a modified-for-support version of Freespace 2 or KOTOR or something.

You'd go into cardiac arrest after 3.8 seconds.

not before the system running it does. 3200 by 2400 freaking pixels of doom3?!
Now that I think of it, maybe when future video cards are able to run DOOM 3 at 60 fps, at ultra/high quality and with 5.1 surround at midnight with the lights off....
Damn that's scary....
Hurray for inconvenience!
Actually, it'd need one hella big stand....
It needs a bloody tower itself to hold that thing up. Unless it is a flat-screen.
The algorithm works by checking the extents and fields of each projector by each projector displaying a sequence of patterns one at a time. This data is picked up by a camera and the relative areas calculated. You can have them at any angle too, and it'll still work, so long as the fields at least touch.
That would be sweet.
my list: doom3, ss2 ... dn4e
everyone knows the only good use for that monitor is pr0n
On the contrary, it's a bit conspicuous for that.

Also urination, screaming and police at your door for "disturbing the peace"
I wouldn't mind owning that.. Unreal 2003/4 on it? So sweet
"OOH! All those glaring pixels and low-resolution textures! Not to mention that 1000x uglier stomach! Heaven!" XD
doom3
or Buzzy Bots
that would be just awsome
This man speaks sense.
