Listenservers Are Borked...

For the last while listenservers have been borked. The first problem was when you tried to start a listenserver with a shortcut. Now I am trying to run Admin Mod on the listenserver (I have the latest Metamod), so I thought maybe that was the problem. However, starting the listenserver up through the NS game menu worked fine, although I couldn't gain access to any of my Admin Mod commands no matter what I tried.
Well now today, after the last Steam update, the listenserver no longer works when I start it up through the NS game menu either. It also doesn't matter whether I start it up with Admin Mod/Metamod, or just vanilla. I now get the same problem I had when I tried starting up NS with a shortcut.
What happens I I start lagging, and my mouse sticks. I will get stuck going in a certain direction and when I try to jump, a second or two after I press the keys, I will jump. When I had the problem starting up with a shortcut the problem would stay around, even if I didn't start the game up with a shortcut, until I replaced the config.cfg file. The real kicker was that, after I had the problems starting up NS with a shortcut Day of Defeat started having similar problems as well that were not somewhat resolved until I reinstalled DOD and eventually, Steam itself. It seems as though something in DirectX or OpenGL is getting screwed up, something that affects both NS and DOD.
Anyway, I'm trying to create an NS map, and until I am able to use a listenserver again, the job of testing the map is going to be ten times more difficult...

My system specs are:
AMD Athalon XP 1700+
1GB PC2100 SDRAM
ATI Radeon 8500 64MB
SB Live
Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro
Logitech MX700
I'm using a Startech SV211MICRO KVM switch.
Make a dedicated server and then connect to it localy
Try loading the map using console, just type "map ns_mymap" in console from the main menu.
If you are only testing maps you could use the old half life stand alone if you still have it installed.

The switch COULD be part of the problem, though I have a feeling the Microsoft Keyboard could be the source of the laggy feeling you get when you play. Assuming you are running Windows 2000 or Windows XP, hit ctrl-alt-del and and switch to the "Processes" tab. You are looking for one called type32.exe (or something similar), when you find it right-click on the process' name, and go down the menu to "Set Priority" and change it from "Normal" to "High" and see if this fixes the lagging controls problem. If it does then this is the source of your frustrations, and to date the only solution I know of is changing the Priority this way, every time you log onto your computer. If not, we'll have to see if it is something else.
@ JazzX - I'll test this out and see if it works.
Well it appears as though starting my server via the NS menu is working again. I tried using Microsoft Intellipoint with my Logitech MX700, because the Logitech MouseWare didn't work with my KVM switch. Uninstalling the Intellipoint software and reverting to the default XP drivers at least solved the problem with starting the server via the NS menu. I haven't dared to try starting it via a shortcut.
I had actually forgotten I was using Intellipoint, otherwise I probably would have thought of that first. Oh well, I'm feeling a bit stupid... <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif' /><!--endemo-->
