Questions for first time player

<div class="IPBDescription">Veteran fps and rts player</div>i ran a server and played NS on it for a couple hours. i have a lot of questions. in nor particular order:
commanding
there are red dots on the radar that do not seem to be related to anything. is this a bug?
voice comm doesnt work when in overview mode - this seems like a major bug, it makes it very hard to communicate with people who are yelling stuff to you if you can only type
locating people - there doesnt seem to be any way to locate people on the map except if they use a menu radio command, and then there is no record of who sent what message, or where anyone was at prior to the last message.
hotkeys - i bound ammo to f3 and health to f4. i tried using the keys to spawn them but they only worked once (one health pack, one ammo pack). after that the keys didnt do anything
right clicking for mission - sometimes i try to send people somewhere and i right click and it says "invalid command" - what is wrong?
cant find resources - there is a white dot on the map but when i scroll over, there is no white jet of resources, i can't locate the place to put hte resource collector
other times i try to place the resource collector but it wont let me. what are the rules for that?
aliens
is there no way for aliens to get an overview of the map?
all the circles in the view dont make sense - some are white, some are yellow, some are red. what do all these mean?
why were there menu options for enhancements like moving faster or moving silently, but i could never use them? are they only for certain life forms, or does the gorge have to build them, or what? i would select them in the menu but nothing happened (and i had lots of resources).
does everyone collect resources anywhere on the map at the same rate?
server - my server can support 32 people on cs with no problem (<10% cpu, <25% ram, <50% bandwidth). however with 32 people on NS it slowed to a crawl. even with 20 people it still had high lag (100-200 pings). is this a known issue? or maybe is there a way i can tweak the server settings?
admin stuff - i put my wonid in the server.cfg file to get admin access. however, i dont know how to get access or what the admin options are.
i realize this is a lot of questions but i read the manual and didnt find any of it.
if you can take the time to help me out, you will gain a good server for the NS community <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Voice comm should work in commander mode, I dont know why it isnt.
When you hear a radio command, press your jump key (or, bind +jump to another key if you use mouse2) to goto the last message. For example "Marine needs ammo." Press jump to goto that marine.
Not sure what the issue with hotkeys are, I've never used them to tell you the truth. Did you try a non "f" button?
The invalid order (when it shouldnt be) is a bug.
Some of the mini maps show RT's where there are none. I think the lazy mappers just didnt update their mini maps with the maps .. <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->
to place a RT, you must place it within the green circle and have the required resources. If its having trouble dropping, try selecting something else then placing it again.
No overview map for the aliens.
White = team mate/hive
Yellow = Enemy (building/player)
Red = friendly (building/player under attack)
To use upgrades, your gorges must build the upgrade chambers. When you can use an upgrade, an icon to the right of your screen will pop up.
all RT's collect at the same rate I believe ..
Theres a known issue with the server lag, as has already been posted. It will be fixed asap.
No clue about the admin stuff. I do know however, you must type auth into your console to turn it on.
Voice comm works fine in Commander Mode for me. Might be your setup. Make sure it works out of that mode too.
Yeah, locating people is a bit hard. Check for green dots on your minimap, and ask them to tell you 'where' they are.
Hotkeys... hmm.. Odd.
Some of the white dots might be a hive. Maybe.
Placing resouce collecters requires there to be no collector there. Are you sure aliens haven't built there already?
Aliens... No, no way to get an overview, sorry.
The circles are your hive mind. White are friendlies, red are friendlies under fire, and yellow are marines and marine buildings.
The upgrades require the chamber associated with them. The chambers have to be built first.
Resource collection is the same everywhere.
The server problem is known and is being worked on. Expect a patch by the weekend.
No clue about adminmod.

I can't answer all of those questions but heres what I know
The Red dots: they are aliens that are within one of you marines LOS
Alien Map Overview: No you can't
Circles in the View: These are your hive sight indicators, the white circles are your fellow aliens, the yellow circles are parasited marines and the red circles are buildings (and aliens?) that are being attacked
Enhancements: There are a few possible reasons why you could not use them
1)there are none of the buildings required to get the enhancement, eg. You can't get celerity (speed) if you don't have any movement chambers built
2) You already have an enhancment from that group, eg. you can't get celerity (speed) if you already have adrenaline or redemption.
Lag: this is a known issue and there should be a fix coming out soon
