What is the name of the map it says you are missing.
It is possible that the games you are trying to join are running custom maps and do not allow downloading from the server. Another possiblity is that you have a corrupted installation.
First, check the names of the maps it says you are missing.
Second, try downloading a map pack (or individual maps) and installing them.
Third, if none of the above work, I suggest you redownload the NS install (make sure it is the most recent version and try again.
I often find that the update patches don't always work for me. I always try to install from the full install files.
2) Play HL atleast Once via Steam (just booting up the training mission will do).
3) Download these 3 files:
ns_install_v3_b1.exe
ns_v30_b4_patch.exe
ns_v30_b4a_patch.exe
4) Install NS V3.0 Beta 1 (ns_install_v3_b1.exe) (This should auto install to steam\steamApps\your@email\half-life\nsp, if it does not, move the NSP folder there).
5) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4 (ns_v30_b4_patch.exe) (point this at steam\steamApps\your@email\Half-Life\ do NOT include the NSP).
6) Install NS V3.0 Beta 4a (ns_v30_b4a_patch.exe) (See * at bottom).
7) Search your Hard drive(s) for folders named nsp.
8) If you have more than one you messed up. Goto Step 3.
If you folow these steps properly you will not get client.dll or map.bsp errors.
If you are positive you have folowed them corectly then redownload the installer form a different location.
*There aslo seems to be a bug with, atleast some of, the 4a installers. Try pointing it at steamApps\your@email\ instead of steamApps\your@email\half-life
Note: This is a file stored on my desktop because I have to use it so many times.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
<b> Slightly More Advanced Steps</b>
<!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->1) Search your Hard drive for ns and nsp.
2) Deleate all folders named that.
3) Start from step 3 in my guide.
4) Make sure you are using the properly named files for each step, the file name is listed with the step.
5) Make sure you point each file at the place listed with the step
5a) The first one should auto install with no choice of destination
5b) The second one goes to: Steam\SteamApps\your@email\Half-Life
5c) The 3rd should probably go to Steam\SteamApps\your@email\
6) After each install step in my guide (steps 4, 5 and 6) search your hard drive for nsp
6a) If you find only one folder, and it is located at Steam\SteamApps\your@email\half-life\nsp then you are good to go.
6b) If you have only one nsp but it is some where else, move it to that location.
6c) If you have 2 nsp folders, then move the one that is not in that location, over writing all files when prompted.
6d) Each time you move an nsp folder search your hard drive again for nsp to double check.
Here ends my Slightly more advanced Guide on how to friken install NSv3.0B4a
It is now becoming another file on my desktop.<!--c2--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->
