Browning M2 Future Edition
Well..I've been working on this for a while. It's based losely on the Browning m2 which I really like, mainly from Fallout Tactics. Neway, I got this far but can't think of a way of getting a handle onto it. Any suggestions.

Also C&C on it so far. I know its absolutely hideous but I'm still only learning

Put a base on it, remove the handle, add a camera.

If you finish that, I think you'll get some support getting it into the game.

just wondering what kinda poly count is deemed acceptable.

im currently at 1594 with a handle and the main body if the gun left. They are mostly blocks so i doubt i'll take up too much with em

yeah its fine and all im just saying try and keep it below 2000 if you can keep it low why not keep it low? just keep your eye on the polies if you see it getting higher try and do what you can to reduce it and the lower the polycount the easier it is to mesh

one thing you'll soon find while working on models from a beginner stand point is that all that extrusion makes for some really unoptimised models, this is something you can fix later, but it's something that is best adressed as you work on it, with a PC currently that high, I'm guessing thats the case...
keep it up though, make it look good enough, and find some one to skin it well and I may animate it

unfortunately, i really dont think that this will be meshable due to my extreme noob modelling skills.

The grip (not the foregrip) needs to be enlarged, the rear section needs to be shrunk, and the butt is also a bit too big. It's awesome other than that.

Now that I see the wireframe, I think it'll be quite meshable.

I think this would even work with a modified version of my MG42 animations for the v models.

i'm sure that that could have been meshed better my friend. i probably should have though, as well as THAT beast had some faces missing due to the ejectionport side being modelled after the rest of the gun, therefore it had free verts that had no where to attatch to, on the rest of the gun. (meh) you think that's bad, i dare you to go mesh my USP i dont even wanna touch that.

the only reason this looks any good is because i used a concept for once...I usually try to do it straight from my head
• BAshhBAshh Join Date: 2003-08-26 Member: 20222Members, NS1 Playtester, Contributor
i've done that before, before i knew how to model, it looks good, and seeing the mesh, yes it really does look UVmap-able. i like, good job *thumbsup*

seeing as we've now established it's quite possibly meshable anyone wanna take a shot at it?

[edit] also i just went and found the concept iused again to find out what it is. The gun is a M60E3 and is belt fed. But we could probably get away with shoving a clip behing the trigger area and making it a bullpup
• ObstObst Join Date: 2003-03-12 Member: 14436Members, Constellation
I can support you with belt-fed animations.

nething i need to add to it now? Should i model the belt and ammo? Also how do u get the ejection port? I couldn't make one so it would need to be part of the skin at the moment
