<div class="IPBDescription">anyone knowing anything about comps</div> Ok...WTH. Computers hate me. I was cruisin the web when my comp shut off. I leaned down, took a look at the back, didnt touch ANYTHING and the power supply freaking exloded. Not just a sound. A huge freaking blast in my face. Big white flash, etc. I think it was papasmurf, oh well. Anyways. We got a new case and power supply, and hooked everything all nice. The mobos green LED came on, but when we pushed the on button, no dice. No start up. Normally if like...the hard drive was **** it would load up to the black screen and say Boot device not found or something. We hooked up the HDD to my sisters comp, and it gave me that INNACCESSABLE BOOT DEVICE message that I hate so much. Im sure the hdd is fried, im pretty sure that the mobo is fried...but I want to get some opinions on whether or not the proc is friend. I want to make sure before I get another one.

Well if the power supply actually exploded, the motherboard was might have been fried, same with every component connected to the power supply. Your PCI/AGP cards might be okay, but the rest is probably toast. Look for scorch marks, or any funny smell (burnt electronics is quite distinctive). Leave the case open next start up and listen carefully to the HDD and see if you can hear the motor spinning up. Also, jump into the BIOS next boot and check if all the sensor readings are normal (assuming your mobo measures stuff like voltages). All voltages should be fairly close to their labelled value. This is, of course, assuming you can get into the BIOS. If you can do that, the mobo is probably fine. However, definately listen for the HDD motor spinning up. That should tell you if the drive is dead or not.

no, I cant get into bios for that. I know its dead, its what happened to my other hdd. I think the only reasonable solution to this mess is to blow my head off.
