Hommiii Vs Hommiv

Any turn based strategy fans here?
I'm a big fan of turn based strategy. I've found precious few other gamers who like this genera, but they do exist. Two of my favorite titles are Heroes of Might and Magic III and Heroes of Might and Magic IV. I'm just curious if anyone here plays them, and if so which you prefer?

Edit: AOW2 was great also
Its just way more immersive, and the gameplay takes way less to master.
HOMM IV is an excellent game in its own right, it just can't stack up quite as much.
Anyone play that game... uh... 'King's Quest', I think it was? It was alot like HOMM, except alot older (alot!). That game was pretty cool too.
Microprose UFO : Enemy Unknown? Best turn based game, possibly ever? (Even if it was a remake of Laser Squad, it did it much better)

One of my favorites is a game called "History Line 1914-1918", it's not well known for some odd reason. It's much alike to the Battle Isle series (both made by Blue Byte) but it's about the, d'oh, first world war and provides very interesting history infos after each mission. Great game, really.

King's Quest is an adventure Series by Sierra (started in 1983, was the first PC game!), but I guess you mean "Master of Magic" by Microprose. It's a mixture between Civilization, Heroes of Might&Magic (which came out later) and a bit of Master of Orion.
btw, I hated UFO, too many bugs, but I've never actually played it

Oh, I see. Alright. Heh, I liked that game anyway
WHAT? What does that mean? You hate it because it has too many bugs... but you've never played it...
Oh, and to many other contries it's known as X-COM. And although a lot of people dissagree with me, I like the sequel "terror from the deep" better.
Other TBS games that rock: Civilization, Dark Legions, Arena, and (don't laugh) YuGiOh: Dungeon Dice.

UFO/X-COM for the win.
Battle Isle II was extremely fun, if you turned up the realistics: Ammunition and fuel management and weather conditions in large scale battles. Oh my.
I'm currently playing Civilization III: Conquest. I've been in the current game for 18 hours now, and racing the Dutch for mech infantry and the very precious oil. Only two oil reserves in the entire world, and we're three nations fighting over it.
Chess & Go > all, though.
1. MAX
2. HOMM 2, HOMM 3 (tied)
3. Alpha Centauri
4. Civ 3
5. Civ 2
6. MOO
7. Lord of the Realms 2
I really love TBS, I wish there was more good ones...
I hear that. HOMMV is in development, but it's the only major one that I know of.

(and LOTR 1+2 and a few others)

Ya, but that's a tactical RPG, not a TBS. I love loved Front Mission 3 and was similarly impressed with Front Mission 4, I definately recomend you give it a try.
