Software Mode Issue

I receive, as many people do, the 'Natural Selection does not support Software mode issue' and I know the solution to this, switch it to open GL. But, whenever I go to do this an error pops up say 'This game does not support this mode'
or something on the lines of that. What do I do now? =.=
