Help With Doom 1 And Doom 2

I just got a new computer, and I decided to install Doom 1 and Doom 2 onto it (don't ask why, I will be installing Doom 3 soon). This is from the original disks.

With Doom 1, I want to change it to wasd configuration. I found the config file easily enough, but I don't know what to change the values to.

<!--c1--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>CODE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='CODE'><!--ec1-->
key_right               77
key_left                 75
key_up                  72
key_down              80
key_strafeleft         51
key_straferight       52
key_fire                 29
key_use                 57
key_strafe              56
key_speed              54<!--c2--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->

That is what is actually in the config file (the part I want to be able to change, anyway).

With Doom 2, I have a different problem. There is a menu that makes it simple enough to change the keyboard commands, and another tab for the mouse commands. There is a box that says "Enable Mouse Support". However, the mouse does not work, and it hasn't worked on any Windows XP computer that I have tried it on.

Can anyone help me with either of these?

    Um... There's a setup utility that works fine, in the Doom directory. That or you could use one of the <a href='http://doomworld.com/ports/index.shtml' target='_blank'>many source ports</a> that exist for them. My favorites being <a href='http://legacy.newdoom.com/' target='_blank'>Doom Legacy</a> for multiplayer, but singleplayer would <a href='http://www.doomsdayhq.com/' target='_blank'>definitely have to be Doomsday</a>, due to the fact you can get <a href='http://switch.to/doom2textures' target='_blank'>high-resolution textures for it</a>, and <a href='http://www.doomsdayhq.com/files.php?pro=2&class=4&type=6' target='_blank'>models</a> (if you're into that thing. I personally don't like them). And, <a href='http://sycraft.org/content/audio/doom.shtml' target='_blank'>some higher-quality music in OGG format</a>, which can be used by Doomsday (also called jDoom).

    But for vanilla, yeah, there should be a setup utility in the main directory.

    Completely lost my old copies of doom 1 and 2. Sad, now I'd really like to play them with doomsday. I played through the shareware version with it, and it's real nice. The only odd thing is that it adds in mlook, and looking down on an enemy, the sprite based graphics make them all 2-d. Adding in the jump feature lets you get places you shouldn't also. But it's fun anyway. Playing doom with proper mouse control is great.

    Easy solution: Download Doom LEGACY which runs doom in a windows enviroment.

    I prefer jDOOM over Legacy for multiplayer, so you can alt-tab back and forth quickly to see if someone is connecting to your server. I can't seem to find the option for windowed mode on Legacy, so it makes it that much more annoying to try and start up some servers.

    Yes... but does jDoom have Item Respawning setting, 16 colors for players, and skin options? Word. Legacy has that.

    Is doom1/doom2 legally abandonware yet? <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
