Changing Gamma

I'm ripenting maps, converting maps from other mods to NS. I've encountered a problem on every map I've converted. Sometimes (I'd say 80% of the time) the map loads with gamma way too high. The quick and dirty fix is to have everyone open and close their console, which resets the gamma to where it should be. Whenever it happens, all players load with the gamma too high. I have setup an env_gamma entity, but it doesn't help this any. It just controls the gamma level after its been reset. And even then, sometimes the map gets even darker at some point in the round, and I haven't been able to track down when exactly this happens, but it seems to be at the start of a second round.
