<div class="IPBDescription">How Do I Correct It?</div> For some odd reason my XP 2800 (2.25ghz) is now being reported
at 1.4ghz <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I've been using this cpu for a good 4 months now and I think it
was the motherboard driver update that must have altered it.
What do I have to alter in the BIOS to change this?

Comments
guided me through altering the multiplier setting and speeds
in the BIOS.
166 and 13.5 if I remember rightly :-D
(AMD Athlon XP 2800+)
eh... the motherboard says "real clock: 166 mhz; effective clock: 333 mhz" ... is this right?
yes. both AMD and intel use marketing-lies to sell their front side bus speed.
when an amd chip says 333, divide by two to get the real clock speed, 166. amd chips are always doubled.
intel is quadrupled. an 800 fsb p4 uses 200 fsb real-clock. ever wonder why pc3200 works in both an amd 3200+ (200 real clock) and a p4 3.2 (200 real clock)?
sorry for not making a lot of sense, it is 2:30 am, but i think i got the point across.
