SPOILERS, obviously.
I just came back from seeing it, and I must say it's not as bad as I thought, but it's nothing like the first.

Summary:
Father Merrin is sent to Africa, where they're digging up a "church" that was unknown. It is said that that is where Lucifer fell to Earth after the Battle in Heaven. He's supposed to find a small statue[The one seen in the first I think], but as more and more of the Church is uncovered, more things start happening. The native people and British Military are against each other, and one doesn't want "it" to happen again[The Natives] and the other wants the dig completed[The Military]. Throughout the movie, you see Flashbacks of Merrin's past, where he was a Priest in WWII, where he witnessed the killing of people, thus losing his faith. Slowly he starts to regain his faith.

Question:

SPOILERS:

How did Sara die in the cave? I mean, you just see some blood rush from her head and she's in pain, but you nothing happens before that[Other than the Exorcism].

/SPOILERS

Did anyone else catch the "Easter Eggs" within the movie, like the first one?

I noticed 3:

SEMI-SPOILER:
On the first night, I think, the moon has a "Goat-Like" figure to it, or maybe I'm just tripping. When Merrin first opens the casket and goes in, a part of the lid "wobble," like a liquid effect. The last was extremely obvious, at the end when Merrin asks Joseph to read from the Bible and Blue Face flashes really quickly in the background.

I bet if you look closely enough you will see Finnish flag somewhere over there. Almost every Renny Harlin's movies contain one.

I loved the entire thing, from the excellent opening scene to the part where they dig out of the church.

There were a few plot problems though, such as Joeseph being obviously possessed, then suddenly he's not and it was the chick the whole time, which left the audience going "huh?" Also, the Vatican "cover up" was a cheesy and stupid add in to a fairly strong plot.

Father Marion lost his faith in WWII because he was forced into a situation by a Nazi officer that there was no way out of. It's important to the plot that his past be so prevalent.

One last thing that annoyed me about the film: the random covering up of the idol that the plot seemed to entirely revolve around. It was a poorly done way to move the audience beyond that little statue.

    Overall, 8/10.

Okay this thread might be a little old, but I just saw the movie. I give it a 7/10.

Anyways, like Liku asked...how did Sara die? I remember Lucifer saying something like if he was to goe, he would kill her. But what was with the out of the blue blood rushing from her head? Uber Aneurysm?

Was it anything like the first Exorcist? Becase when I was growing up my mother had been telling me how utterly terrifying and scary is was, then when I watched at about 10 I started cracking up. Not scary. If you want a scary movie, watch John Carpenter's The Thing.

Lol, i laughed a lot the first time i watched it too. Then again i was slightly drunk and with 3-4 of my best friends who have a similar sense of humour to me (i.e, stupid). The bit at the end where he dives through the window.... ahaha. I was probably thinking of the French & Saunders spoof of it though, because that rocked.

I was pretty scared when I saw it in theaters. I had uber chills, but "The Thing", well, it's kinda scary I just watched it last weekend. There's a funny scene in "The Thing," when everyone's tied down going the drug test. I couldn't stop laughing.

Can anyone answer our question though? For those who've seen it.
