<div class="IPBDescription">DAMN YOU REGCLEANER</div> Okay, so I was going through a windows tweak guide, and everything was going great, then we got to regcleaner. It said to do automatic and select "Do them all". I did. It made the backups and everything, were all good.
But basically, it killed my computer. It doesn't even know what a exe is. I'm only able to run this program here because it was going while regcleaner was going.
How do I restore these backups? I SERIOUSLY need some help here, this is big, and the help needs to be quick, so PLEASE help me...

Oi vei.
I just did a search, and found something to restore .exe's- but it needs the exe regedit to do it.
I have this odd feeling that I am royally screwed beyond all comprehension.
Anyone have a way to restore exes? We may be able to get somewhere from there(it seems only exe's have been deleted- html files still work)
<span style='color:red'>*Edit* Only HTML files work. Only. D:</span>
All you need to do is double click that file and it will re-add those entries back into your registry.
This is just a guess tho, perhaps that program saves its backups differently...

Man. While you didn't give the direct answer, you gave me enough I could get it the rest of the way myself.
I thank you with more gratitude than anyone I have thus far. You have NO idea how much work I spent just getting this format to work, and now that everything works again, I am a VERY happy man indeed. Thank you so much! <3
A: Never mess with registry, why even touch it? foowl.
B: If its too late, try to backup your mistake.
C: If not working, use ur System Restore if possible.
D: Format that thing.
For others...
A: NEVER TOUCH REGISTRY EVAR
B: You better have a damn good excuse to even think about doing anything in there.
C: Get a step by step guide from PEOPLE who have done it before, its flawless. Using company guides or guides from workers usually f***s up ur system. Get ppl with experience, not a fancy job title, in fact dont even trust your local pc store they usually just format and say its fixed and charge you $100 for the format instead of fixing the bugger.
BTW, the guide is called "WinXP: Reformat to Relax", and you can find it at www.tweakguides.com.
I saved my registry as a dat file, which I thought would be safe as a 'backup', then I proceeded to sabotage my registry by deleting as much strings as it would let me, until things started going odd.
I thought confidently to myself, "time to right click the dat file and restore everything to normal!" The only problem was that right-clicking stopped working (either that, or the options were extremely limited... I don't think I even had the ability to open any file anymore.)
It concluded with a format, and my growing slightly wiser in wacky world of womputers.
