Not looking so hot :/
Hmm.. In my daily news reading I came across this page of KOTOR2 screenshots. I'm a big fan of the first one, so its kind of troubling to see these shots. It actually looks worse than the first one, and on top of that all of the character models and textures are re-used. O.o
Like the outfits the characters wear, they're the same exact outfits as in KOTOR. No changes. Sure there are some extra ones now, but they could have changed the old ones too. :/
And the models too are re-used. This chick in the air here is just Mission's (a character from the first one if you haven't played it) body w/ a new head. Same TEXTURES as Mission too, I mean really what the hell?

I haven't read anything about this, but I do know Bioware isn't making it but instead its some guys I haven't heard of before. Has anybody else seen or heard anything about the development of this game that might indicate it won't completely and totally suck?

The lightsabers sure do look better tho.
What really caught my eye though is the flaming saber of dewm. Even though that's probably just a special attack/feat, it's still ugly and definitely not Star Wars
[edit]I'm reading more and I see they also have Feargus Urquhart, who worked on both Fallouts.
holding my attention much. Stupid Cath Hound thingys.
I haetz joo.
So I never played it again...I'm considering buying it for PC.
Meh. To me, this seems like knocking NS because you have to build your base and capture res nodes and fight off lowly skulks for a long time until you get to the big fight with the onos. Every single game ever has boring parts. In KOTORs case I think that there was enough content on each planet to keep me happy. Except maybe Kashyyk. That got a little boring.

Funny, I thought Kasshyk was okay, compared to Tatooine, where its a DRAGON. WHOOPIE!!!
And frankly, NS for me doesn't have any boring parts unless someone's spawn camping(us or them). Otherwise, its very fun IMO. And sure, every game has boring parts, but during those parts, you need quirks to get me to keep playing, ESPECIALLY in a RPG. Like ye olde' Chrono Trigger- the first time in 65000 BC was boring, but the quirk was, I wanted to know who the hell this "Ayla" is, and who the hell stole my Time Key! KOTOR should have done this in some way. But instead, it was a "Do this, we need filler for time", and got boring. Not to mention, there wasn't enough Saber combat. Once I had my saber and was slaughtering, I wanted to get into some good saber fights- but alas, those weren't granted either, just yet(except on the Dark world- I told you, I went through this game MANY times, and that part ALWAYS **** me off, whatever world I went to.)
These "Guys you haven't heard of before" are former members of Black Isle and Blizzard, so I'm confident that KOTOR 2 will be far better than anything Bioware has ever made.
Windelkron: No. Just... no. JK2 and JA were Quake III engine titles by Raven, with most engine modifications happening in-house. KOTOR is by Bioware with no affiliation to the previous JK series titles, technological or otherwise.
I don't believe it. In this day and age of < 20 hour video games, somebody is complaining that the game is longer. :P
I wish KOTOR were longer myself. And they should let you level up a few more times too.
I'm glad some of you guys have heard more about KOTOR2 than I did. Hopefully it'll at least be as good as the first. If it is, then it'll absolutely pwn. I hope they still plan to bring it to PC though...
I only wish that there won't be too much need for micromanagement or character planning. I don't want to go through the hell of fighting two terentateks at once with my heavily diplomacy/Force based scout/consular again just because I suck at those.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm all for longer games, but frankly, a good game- and more importantly, a good RPG- REQUIRES that the boring spots be toned down, and be as short as possible. But when I go from one planet that is quite boring, to another, each taking me 3 hours, I just...I forget about the game, and just quit. I don't see the point of going on.
Now, if someone wants to provide me with their save AFTER all that BS, as long as your walking the jedi way(I don't care if good or evil), I'll gladly want to see what everyone is so excited about.

The first planet can be beaten in about one hour (and that's one of the better ways to do it, since you have less experience and can get more Jedi levels). It lacks any really interesting quests, but does have some nice subplots.
Now, Dantooine can be really boring too, once you get out there and are forced to run around killing Kath Hounds all day and Mandalorian raiders...also all day. Dantooine would have to be the most boring planet of the 3 (except the crystal cave - that place is okay). It does have 3 of the better quests (the Law & Order murder case; Family Feud and the Missing Droid)...but you need to fight your way through annoying enemies to get to them.
Once you get past Dantooine, you kindof pick your path of interest.
Kashyyyk is boring once you leave the landing pad area - and there's no really interesting quests. I suppose if you really love Wookies it can be your thing, but...blech. The only good part in the forest is the star map interaction if it's not your last planet.
Korriban is one of the more awesome planets. It actually makes the Sith seem like a possible group to want to join. The Sith master guy gives plausible reasons why they're better than Jedi and there's lots of dark side points around and cool quests. Also, my favorite quest appears here. When a rodian asks you to deliver spices to Tatooine - do it, and he'll give you another, much better quest (...come on, look in the box - you know you want to look in the box...).
Tatooine is rather blah once you get to the sand people enclave...there's some good stuff at the bar and racing stands, along with HK...who just makes this planet cool. Besides, you don't really fight the dragon...it's just there.
Since I'm forgetting it's name at the moment (...starts with an M): The Selkath planet is the thinking man's planet. I really suggest getting Jolee in the party from Kashyyyk first, because there's an awesome trial quest going around. This planet also features very little combat compared to the quests and plot you get (which makes it one of the more boring planets to visit on a second play through - but awesome the first time).
Now, the only way you could have 10 hours of boring...ness is if you didn't know waht you were doin on Taris and spent an eternity there, and then got lost on Dantooine, and so didn't visit the jedi council (or maybe you did, skipped all the good quests and visited Kashyyyk the backhole of the galaxy). Either that, or you're playing the game for the combat and not the story - which doesn't work here.
I was wondering why that outfit looked so bad - it's Mission's, aha. It's just my mind binding the image of it to hate . I think the game has high potential to be good, as long as they sort out the "Sith chasing you everywhere" part just right. Then there's the "You're probably the last Jedi alive" part...which seems a bit strange to me, since it's 5 years after the first game (maybe it was a bit more).
I did the Selkath one: Overtly stupid + easy. I did Kassyk. Not bad, but then again, wasn't good either. Did Tatooine, and I must wonder, whats so great about this? And I did the first part of the Sith world- and got my butt handed to me by 3-5 Jedi.
I mean, the game just isn't very fun during most of the early game. I've played countless games people call more boring- For God's sake, MMORPGs are one of my favorite genres. They just need to get the story started, not give me a ton of filler for the first long **** piece of the game.
I liked it all myself, my only complaint is too much backtracking through areas where you've already killed everything that moves. Force Speed makes it less painful, but still its a hassle.
