Does Service Pack 2
<div class="IPBDescription">mess with your internet?</div> I recently installed a new serial ATA harddriver, installed windows, antivirus, ect, and then got service pack 2. Before with my old hd I would get 3mbit service, usalled dling at around 300KB max, but now Im lucky to dl at 50KB, and some online thing reports that I seem to have a 400kb connection. Even after turning off all that windows firewall stuff, and reinstalling and powercycling my modem, I'm still geting bad speeds. It is no fun to play ns at 300 ping, can anyone help?

Can anyone tell me whether it's even worth it to use Sleep mode? The only reason I use it is from the assumption that it cuts down power useage.
Other than that, my speeds don't seem to be affected.
Take note about this particular paragraph

Thats probably your problem, its limiting the number of tcp connections it can create.
There is a work round that people have created that modifies your tcpip.sys file.

It's been edited using the patching method <a href='http://www.lvllord.de/4226fix/4226fix-en-manual.htm' target='_blank'>here</a>.
You can download it from here: <a href='http://www.supportbuddy.com/sp2/tcpip.sys' target='_blank'>www.supportbuddy.com/sp2/tcpip/sys</a>
Boot into "Safe Mode" and Copy the "tcpip.sys" file to these directories:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS
C:\WINDOWS\SERVICEPACKFILES\I386
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
