<div class="IPBDescription">***I promise***</div> I've finally decided on the <a href='http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=14-127-127&depa=1' target='_blank'>http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc....-127-127&depa=1</a>

What does everyone think? Reading the reviews they mention XP detects it as a 9800XT

Thoughts?

I said from the very start that's the card you should/would go for. Very solid, dependable, price range is agreeable, and it's not outdated yet. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

also, seriously... try and confine all your stuff to one thread, or even one post if you can... i swear i've seen so much of your video card stuff lately.

Dude its a great video card... I have one and it does hae a 9800xt core in it and the heatsink is pertty big, which is good if you don't overclock it too much.
When I overclocked mine it got kinda hot wiht the orignal heatsink so I bought
    <a href='http://www.xoxide.com/zm80d.html' target='_blank'>Zalman Dual Heatpipe Heatsink</a>

I also have a home fan bloing air to cool my bid card also, which is highly highly recommend you have at least a fan on the dual heatpip thingy to blow all the heat away.

Seems pricier then I would imagine 9800's would be (got one last christmas for only $230?) by now but whatever.

Heh this was the card I was going to get...just because it comes with games (unlike all the other 9800 pros) <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

CWAG I would really wait for Geforce to come out with their 6600 line of video cards. They will probably be faster and cheaper than the card you want to buy right now. Although they are coming out in a couple months so you would have to exercise patience. You really don't need a new video card though, not until HL2 comes out.

I say that's a great card you're looking at, I have a 9800 Pro right now and it works great on cs source with 1280x1024 resolution with all in game settings on high.

Umm... doesn't the Geforce 6600 like use a PCI Express slot??

He doesn't have a PCI Express slot....

Considering that the 6800 series BARELY uses a PCI-X slot, the only reason I could possibly see that they would PCI-X the 6600 would be to alienate thier customer base and screw themselfs over... The card would easily run full specs on AGP x8, thus most likely will run AGP x8

[edit] BTW, that dual heat pipe sink is a monster, good job <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    <a href='http://www.xoxide.com/slotcooler.html' target='_blank'>These work well for cooling a beast like that</a>

<a href='http://www.nvidia.com/page/pci_express.html' target='_blank'>Nvidia said its for some 6800 but its for most 6600s</a>

<a href='http://www.nvnews.net/previews/geforce_6600_series/' target='_blank'>6600's will come out with PCI Express first, but 8xAGP later.. but I dunno...://6600's will come out with PCI E... but I dunno...://6600's will come out with PCI E... but I dunno...://6600's will come out with PCI E... but I dunno...</a>

So CWAG would have to wait like 2 months after they release the 6600 PCI Express for it to come out for 8xAGP, and by then HL@ would be out already(hopefully).
