No matter how much you try to argue, there is a finite amount of oil in the Earth. Nothing you say will put more oil in the ground. And it will eventually run out.
This isn't about running out of oil, its about running out of CHEAP oil. (Still the same near-apocolyptic events could happen) Just thought I'd clarify

Heh, your all thinking about how much were going to be screwed when oil runs out. You all need to stop thinking about that, and more about how much were screwed right now. If any of you have read the latest edition of National Geographic you will realize that were screwing our selves by burning oil.
It's not a question of how quickly were going to run out of oil, but how quickly we can stop it, and stop global warming. You'd be surprised by the amount of people that live with in 3 feet of sea level, its over 100,000. If we continue burning oil, we will make the problem of global warming worse and 100,000 people will be out of a place to stay. Thats not just in some remote part of the world ether. Florida is going to get hit hard by this. If the water level rises 3 feet 70% Florida will be covered with water. (don't quote me on that). Anyway what I want to say is that we have to find new souses of energy now, or else were going to have more to worry about than just finding the next oil.
Also to counter all those wanabe flammers I know that oil isn't the only part of global warming, but I do know its a big part of it. Why don't we try to work on these things in little steps instead of trying to fix it all at once?

Cpl.Davis jumps onto the Pirate ship with CWAG and Ha.ze.
Hmm This makes three! One more and we can have an away team!
Good thing I live somewhat near Niagra Falls and the hyrdoplants range as well.
And if that fails, well the local nuclear power plant will suffice for a little while longer.
CWAG, I say we be pirates and go steal all the Energon!
If its good enough for the transformers, its good enough in my book.
Global warming, meet Y2K scare. Y2K scare, meet global warming.
If you seriously think global warming is a reality, you're crazy. There is no danger of flooding from melting ice caps - not because the ice caps may never melt, but the melting of the ice caps will not greatly affect the water level.

I have full faith in oil companies to come up with alternative fuel or more efficent fuel sources to steal our money for as long as humanily possible. I wouldnt be to worried about running out of oil as I would guess they already are able to produce more oil and just arnt doing so because they would like to make more money in the mean time (from cheaper sources).
Oil companies want money, to drive themselves out of buisnesse would not be a good plan for them. I have full faith in our oil companies to find way to make money.

Those of you who think we are going to run out of oil ought to read up on Thermal Depolymerization which allows fossil fuel to be made from any organic waste.

Its much easier to drill a bunch of holes in the ground and just suck it out.
As for the possibility of this happening, it could very much happen. This isn't the same thing as the Y2K scare. You have computer bugs on one hand(which can be fixed easily), and you have oil which is scarce and finite for the most part. You can't compare the two.
Do I think that this will happen within a year or so? No but its going to happen eventually and this is why Bush should be spending more money on technology for alternative sources for energy.

You can carpool when possible.
You can install solar panels at your home.
