1.) irony. this is how i saw it, and it didn't make me want to cry at all. 2.) sacrifice (last-supper style). unless you've read one of the fan sites or have read the "Philosophy of Time Travel" on the official website, and you're clever enough to put it all together, it's almost impossible to come to this conclusion. i guess this can be pretty tragic.
