Hate to sound beggy, but if anyone has a key they don't plan to use, I'd really appreciate it. My roommate and his brother are both trying to get keys, and you all know that MP gaming is best with friends. (:

Theyre just giving out keys and d/l at the moment, but the week long beta should >open< any time now. It will probably be unplayable for at least the first 1 - 2 days, 100,000 poeple trying to login at the same time? = insta crash and lag disco.
While I am chuffed to get to play as I didnt get into closed beta, this will probly be the worst beta ever in terms of lag and unplayability but it is afterall a pure stress test only.
From what i've read on the Bliz forums, they're putting in a lot of servers for this stress test. Cant find the post at the moment, but the new Bliz forum dude posted that there would be something like 5x the servers up for the stress test than there are for the beta test. So, hopefully that will abate the lag some.
Coil, if you cant find another key, I think I have a spare floating around somewhere. I'll see if I cant dig it up.

Duff-man the eq servers have been running for 5+ years.
Blizzards servers will be brand new and never tested with anywhere near these kinds of numbers. I guarentee barring a small miracle that there will be severe problems of lag and crashing.

I hope they aren't shooting for 10k per server, cause there's no way that's happening. Unless Blizzard has some uber-mega-super servers the likes of none we have ever seen before.
While, yep, there will most certainly be lag, I think you're overestimating how bad it'll be.
Um... problem. I need a place to download the client file. You know, the 2 gig one. I started downloading from a link a while back, but when I went to it again, it said the file had been removed. So I grit my teeth and head over to Fileplanet, but I'm not sure how I can get it now since the sign ups are closed.

If you do not already have a key, the only way to get one is to be a paying Fileplanet subscriber (or find someone who has one). I'm not sure if FP will let you download the file without having a key credited to your account, so if you're borrowing a key you may have to find somewhere else to DL it from. I suggest Bittorrent sites, though I will request that people do NOT link to said sites in accordance with our no-warez policy on these boards.

That takes me to a page that says that "signups are closed". Maybe it doesn't recognize that I have a key because I was put on the waiting list and then it was emailed to me...
