<div class="IPBDescription">which is better?</div> Ok if you were looking for a solution to a problem on a website, whihc would you prefer?

a) A list of FAQs all categorised and where by you can also search by keywords

or

b)A troubleshooter style finder whereby it will ask you one question and then base on your answer it will take you to another question. THis keeps on until it will eventually show you the final answer that is the best solution to your problem.

I am trying to figure on what kind of solution finder application to make for my work site. The department that asked me to do asked it to be done in style (B). I decided would helpful for the whole organisation, so I decided to find a PHP software around that does but couldn;t. All I keep finding was loads of solution finders in style (A) as in FAQ listings.

So I am just trying to find out from people whihc would u think is better? Because I am suprised no one has ever made a solution finder in style (B), a troubleshooters-style

Both would be better but to choose. If the database is big enough then id go with B.

A lets the reader customize how he reads through the sections (scrolling)
B assumes the reader doesnt know how to look through all that information and treats him like a luser.

Yeah I'd go with A too, probably easier. I always hated those little trouble shooting things. I felt like I was being mislead and would never get to answer, so whenever one comes up I just close it out and fiddle around with things until they work.

I've always have a perference for wikis. A hybrid wiki faq would be nice.

Give me 'A' or give me a live tech support person to talk to <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->.
